I-Day Report Time

Lots of XYZ cases come from Youngster cruises. Many of them involve alcohol and associated "partying". ;)

Sydney: Congratulations to you and your son. It is a long ride with more to come. DD did Ho Chi Mhin Trail for a Slurpy plebe year. They do find some entertainment. DD and company were hanging Navy banners at night from light poles toward the stadium before a home game. Annapolis Police drove up and told them please don't fall the paper work will kill us.

I suspect that most antics are limited to the Yard...Administration takes a dim view of police involvement. That said, there is nothing illegal about hanging banners on property you (ie., Navy) owns, so no laws were broken. I suspect the Annapolis police have a whole lot more to worry about.

Every class can probably write a book about unique ways they found to have fun, including every imaginable type of recon through the Yard and beyond. Look at it this way -- approx. 4000 young men and women, 18-24 years old, full of piss and vinegar, are going to find a way to have fun. Sure, the Administration (perhaps halfheartedly) tries to control the Midshipmen, but that is really an impossible task -about all they can do is try to deter anything that can hurt someone or embarrasses the institution.
