Does anyone know if parent's are able to hand us a small box/bag during the 2 hours they are able to see us during A-day? Hoping to get few school supplies/essentials, knowing the mail will be well backed up.

thanks.

Your parents can bring a BIG box of supplies...including printer, essentials, etc.

As long as it is school related, not civilian clothes, you can take it to your room.

We flew in for A-Day. DS wanted a printer and monitor so we ordered online and selected the "ship to store" option for a Walmart in Colorado Springs. Picked up both the night before A-Day. We also purchased storage bins, medical supplies (think band-aids, Tylenol, basic medicine cabinet stuff) and some school supplies that night as well. Highly encourage that parents arrive the night before. We had some parents miss the parade on A-Day because their flights were delayed that morning.

Does anyone know if the parents can assist their cadets to bring things like printers into their rooms? Or is it more of you drop it off and have to worry about taking it up yourself after the lunchtime with parents?

Parents can help carry things to the room and help set up. It was actually our favorite part of the day, spending time in DS's room. We had a very quick lunch in the parking lot with some other cadets and their families and then walked the supplies to the dorm. I will warn you...the moment your cadet has to escort you to the gate at the end of your time together is emotional. But the short time spent together is so worth it!!

Check with your squadron before Mom and Dad start packing your old teddy bear, bean bag chair, Terrible Towel, Ben Roethlisberger's autographed picture, and the Antonio Brown dart board. You might not be permitted certain items depending on squad. You don't want to have to lug all that stuff back to the Steeler Nation.

Uhh how did you know I was from the Burgh? Are our locations listed somewhere on here?? Simply curious..

Konkolm, no worries! We do indeed live in the Steeler Nation and my sons' Terrible Towels have been around the world in their respective aircraft.

If you can't make it to A-Day yourself, (I didn't even know that was a thing the year my DD went through) what was really helpful was making as many connections as possible on I-Day directly and on the FB BCT squad pages that spring up and through that find someone that is going to A-Day that is willing to pick up items that you order at Walmart - printer, school supplies, extra blanket, electric kettle and a couple of packs of tea in my case. Those couple of items made a huge difference until we were able to "close the gap" and buy a few more items Parent's weekend. Everything is of course squad specific in terms of what is allowed but I was willing to take the risk and gave instructions that if anything was an issue not to worry.

Nice touch on the AB dart board!

Steeler fan here since childhood. Don't live in Pittsburgh but pretty close to it.

I want to make sure I'm reading the calendar correctly. Is A day August 2 this year?
