CSS Profile

If you know about it at the time you fill out the CSS Profile, I would include it. At the end of the day, university awarded - need based aid, will be adjusted as a result of the ROTC scholarship. For example, my DS completed his Financial Aid forms before he was awarded the scholarship. His Financial Aid letter offered him a decent need based grant. Once the ROTC scholarship was communicated to the Financial Aid office, that grant was removed. The Financial Aid office is not going to provide you with more than the Expected Family Contribution...so expect any aid to be adjusted because of the ROTC scholarship. My other DS knew about the scholarship before we completed the CSS, we included it.

One thing to remember is, the ROTC scholarship does not kick in until APFT and DoDMERB are passed. I know my DD’s school did not add it to her financial aid package, and awarded school based merit and need based grants without it. Then, once she passed the APFT and had cleared DoDMERB, ROTC informed financial aid and they changed her package. I am sure each shook handles it their own way, if you call the financial aid office at your school, ask to speak with the person who handles ROTC and you can get all your questions answered.
