Remarks

Depends. Do you need to write something in the remarks section that might not be otherwise covered elsewhere? If it’s that important, then by all means. Common sense should dictate your actions.
 
It’s important if you have relevant information to provide that you couldn’t enter on the mandatory forms. For example, certain ECAs or unique circumstances that don’t have their own form on the app would be mentioned there. Just don’t be redundant and don’t ramble. Like MidCake said, use common sense.

Indeed. This is your opportunity to add accomplishments, awards that do not fit into any of the check boxes. Athletics, leadership opportunities (such as CAP, Sea Cadets, Scouts), Eagle scout community service projects, mission trips, Sunday School teaching, camp counselor... you get the idea. This is your chance to shine.
