Our DS received notice yesterday that his appointment has been rescinded due to his senior slide in math. (He's eligible for either the Foundation Program or Civil Prep, with assurances that if his grades are A's or B's, he'll probably get a spot in 2024.) Definitely not a good day for the home team here. However, WE HAVE A HOME AVAILABLE FOR ANYONE WHO NEEDS ONE FOR PPW. It's on the water, sleeps up to 12 - reserved on HomeAway. If interested, please call me at 615.979.1600

Sorry to hear this, but glad to hear there is hope for 2024. It’s also a reality check for those who wonder if appointments can be rescinded for this reason.

Good luck on the home rental thing. Kind of you to share here.

How was the USNA advised of your DS’s math grades? Did it relate to his 4th quarter / final grade or grades from earlier in the year. Did the USNA send a warning of sorts in advance to keep up his grades. Thanks for sharing and good for others to understand the process.

Appointees must submit final transcripts. SOP for all colleges for admitted students. (USNA also requests mid-year transcripts from many applicants, to further aid decision-making.)

Are final transcripts provided routinely by the high schools to the USNA? There is nothing on the portal that requests the candidate to provide the transcripts. Just not sure of the method to provide transcripts.

It was based on their review of both semesters of HS math. No warning from USNA, but he had plenty of warning. A life lesson learned.

7th semester transcripts are required. Not sure if 8th semester are always requires, so I’ll defer to any BGOs out there.

Truly sorry to hear what happened. I would venture a guess that your son is not the only appointed or accepted candidate that experienced this issue. The applicant must provide "final" HS transcripts. The SA needs to know that the applicant graduated and maintained their work effort and will do the same at the SA. Common Sense....everyone College or SA needs to submit a final transcript showing AP, IB, and Honors grades and completion of individual State Requirements for graduation. YES, you can lose a SA appointment, just like you can lose a university scholarship or even admission to a university with minimum standards if you fail to meet their requirements. Hopefully your son will do well and get an appointment for 2024..:)

For anyone still in HS, this should be a "Wake Up", you need to maintain your academics and ethics. Don't let getting appointed or accepted be reflected negatively in your academic achievements in your Senior year!!! Keep up the work that got you to where you are!
