10 Things About Being a Girl and a Freshman at USAFA

I haven’t been on this Forum for a while, because we’ve been trying to prepare our DD for I Day with the USAFA Class of ‘23. I’m an old Grad, there before women were allowed to enroll. I was also an ALO for 20 years, so I have advised and mentored many Appointees and now Grads, of both sexes. I watched with pride at the 2019 Graduation as President Trump introduced Dr. Heather Wilson, Distinguished Grad and Rhodes Scholar Class of 82, retired Secretary of the Air Force, and now in the prestigious position of UTEP President. What a successful role model! I wonder how Dr Wilson would view the 10 Things. I wish I had the 10 Things to discuss with women candidates and Appointees back then, and my DD now, as preparation for both the mental and physical part of being a cadet, so very tough for any entering Appointee or current Cadet, man or woman. It’s the heartfelt message from Jetset15 that’s so important, not whether a correct word or phrase is misused in today’s 2019 world. Go ‘23, preparing to join our long Blue Line!

Thank you so much for the advice. Definitely nervous as a female cadet, but your advice is so helpful.
