USMMA Class of 2019 Commencement Ceremony Live-Streaming

Just a reminder that the commencement ceremony for the Class of 2019 will be live-streamed tomorrow morning (Saturday) at 10 am ET, with the pre-show beginning at 9:15.
 
Got the blue tube and license. It was a long, sad four years. Hopefully the worst 4 years of my life are behind me, but who knows. I think I won't post here anymore.

Oh, I am sure that there will be some crappy times ahead for you. At least now, you are better prepared to handle them. . . .

Hopefully 'Mr. Sunshine' won't be coming up the gangway of my kids ship.. Chief Mates have a thousand problems to deal with; he doesn't need another one..

With all due respect, I don't know if you have enough info to say I would be another problem to deal with as a third mate. Never had one of the 4 chief mates I dealt with say or write anything negative. Talking on a forum doesn't necessarily translate to being bad at a job.

Fact of the matter is you've never DONE the job.. and I hate to break it to ya; but just because you were able to get by as a cadet means absolutely zero.. Hopefully you come across better in person than you do on this forum, otherwise you're going to have a lot more long sad 'crappy' years ahead of you.. By the way, the least you could've done is expressed a little gratitude to us taxpayers that worked to put you through that school instead of telling us all it was the 'worst 4 years of my life'.

You know, I have to say that time certainly changes one's perspective. I can't say that my time at the Academy was the worst four years of my life, by a long shot (Sea Year alone takes a year off, no?). I CAN say that it was a LONG four years. . . . and now after 38 years, it still feels like it was a hell of a lot longer that 4. . . but also, as I inferred above, it isn't really supposed to be a happy, fun time. . . and the difficulties certainly prepare one (or at least prepared me) for the difficulties ahead, especially at sea. . . and, yeah, you bet I was happy to get out. . . I was in the union hall to get my card and transfer it west in a matter of hours after tossing my hat into the air. . .

Right, I've never done the job. . .so you have absolutely no idea how I would perform at it. You haven't met me or assessed my personality in any meaningful way to draw the conclusion that you've drawn. You have absolutely zero idea because you don't know me.

Aside from that, thank you so much for paying your taxes. I'm sure everybody who receives entitlements is grateful. You could always stop paying taxes, the federal penitentiary is tax free.

Nah, I don't think I'm going to do that; but I will try and influence my congressional representatives in directing where my tax dollars are spent..

Well that would make two of us.. Who knows, maybe if you work hard you'll become a 'cracker jack' third mate..although my gut tells me to hedge my bet on that.. time will tell. Good luck. You're going to need it. We all did when we were starting out and the ink still hadn't dried on our licenses..

Go ahead and write your congressman and senators on why MARAD and KP should be defunded. It'll find a nice spot in the garbage can. Why don't you write your congressman to get rid of the Jones Act? That might get rid of KP.
