Well, as I went to join a photo sharing site, the administrator of the Facebook BLB 2023 tells me the company and platoon for DS do not match up. I confirmed the letter sent from admissions, and they list P Company 29 Platoon. So I start calculating--A is 1,2, B is 3,4, etc., and sure enough, P Company should be 31 or 32. I believe the company is right--due to him lining up with that flag on I-Day.

All his mail from family and friends is being addressed that way. A care package was already sent to that address. Now I come to find out it is wrong.

I must say this is quite disheartening. I can change his address for the future, but what will happen to all the things sent so far?

Starting with an awful I-Day where they lost his medical waiver and he was not processed until 5:30 pm, sure makes me wonder what is going on...

Super sorry there were hurdles on Iday. I suspect in 6 weeks, you/DS will barely register that delay. Hang in there, keep a PMA! It’s worth it !!

To readers: this is a really good reason to carry a photocopy of all papers. Not saying OP didn’t, just pointing out this helpful tidbit.

Re-posting this link from the other day when I posted it. I trusted the SOP to have all the structural PS info, and it does.

Capt MJ, thank you for the invaluable help. I was so glad to see the official structure. It turns out my fat fingers on the keyboard gave the BLB 2023 administrator the wrong number. Looks like I'm not perfect either!

And fully agree with justdoit19--my son carried duplicates of the PTR packet, but we never saw an actual medical waiver; it would just post to his DODMERB application. Knowing what I do now, I would have had him carry a copy or screen shot of his DODMERB webpage showing the medical waiver granted, numbers, etc. Plus all the medical paperwork we sent. He was not alone that day--he said there were about 10 kids waiting with him to be re-authorized due to medical DQ's. Duplicate, duplicate, duplicate!

You may now exhale, all of us are happy to help. Rest assured, the USNA PO would have worked with PS staff to get any incorrectly addressed mail to the intended Plebe, in any case. Mail is extremely important to the military, and it would not have been discarded.

We had a similar hiccup in DD's address back in 2016. It delayed her mail for about a few days early on, but it got squared away and things ran smoothly after. Not to worry, right now somebody back there is looking at a pile of mail that can't be delivered as addressed, and recognizing the problem.

Yes it is important. The macaroons sent to DD were delivered, just 3 months late. Usually they are pretty good but snafus do occur.

Nothing to see here folks, it's all good, just a typo. For the record, the BLB administrator does not have a master list of the appointees or their companies, we can only go by what you, as parents tell us.

Ah, great reminder that if something goes wrong, before going on a public rant in search of a culprit, usually wise to first look within.
