When we return next month for Plebe Parent Weekend, we will be picking up our security pass which allows parking on the Yard. What are the parking details and can you leave your car overnight?

I checked the link below and the Parking page that can usually be found there has not been posted yet.

https://www.usna.edu/PlebeParentsWeekend/index.php

I did a quick search online and found plenty of specifics for certain events such as Commissioning Week, but not PPW in the past.

In general, you can park in a spot or lot not marked or reserved for staff, faculty, midshipmen 1/c or other specified use.

Parking overnight - though I could not find the specific reference, I would expect day visitors to the Yard are not allowed to leave cars overnight. There simply is not enough parking. If 1100+ families get passes and leave cars overnight (a little hyperbole here, but there is potential), it makes it very difficult for the staff and other employees who drive on each morning, including weekends, to find parking.

I expect most folks will park in the Hillman City Garage or other parking, walk in for events and just do drive-ons to collect or drop off their plebe. I don’t know whether the Stadium parking/shuttle arrangement will be activated.

I’m sure PPW-experienced posters will have some advice to offer.

Parking on The Yard during PPW will be EXTREMELY difficult. Once you get past PPW, it's a whole different ballgame. And parking overnight is a no-no.

Aside from PPW, I've rarely had trouble parking near 8th Wing or in the lot next to Dahlgren.

Or on King George Street next to St. Johns (free on street parking) and walk in at Gate 3

Beware, there be parking dragons there! Yes, free on-street parking, but you must find and read the spaced out street signs (small print, easy to miss) with the 2-hour or other limit, between specific hours. Those are residential streets, and residents have special stickers for their 24-hour parking. They will not hesitate to call your vehicle in. The City of Annapolis recognizes a tidy income stream from parking ticket revenue. Tickets usually start around $25 and ratchet up every few days they are left unpaid.

This....... Not to make it more confusing, but there is 9 hour free parking on King George on the other side of Maryland St. (in the direction of the baseball stadium). It gets taken very early in the day, but you can check it out before going to paid parking. I can say that yesterday (Monday) morning it was gone by 8:15am when I visited my DS who is on TAD right now. Good luck!
