I'm doing some Waldo hunting and I see that in some pictures, there are plebes wearing wristbands. Some may be blue, some may be grey, etc. Just curious if those wristbands hold any sort of significance.

There are 7 wrist bands that reflect their running speed (based on yesterday's test). Fastest run on a track the middle 5 run around the perimeter of the field in speed groups, and group 7 does something else. Not sure what color is what. They are trying to keep individuals in groups that will push them to improve over the summer. - this is what I read so it may be BLB.

We were very curios what the wristbands say and after zooming in few photos and putting it together piece by piece - finally got it! ”get comfortable being uncomfortable” at least that what it says on platoon B bands.

That’s a lifetime skill right there.

Wearing winter uniforms and sweating during the last days of the winter uniform period, reverse for summer, running the PRT in all kinds of nasty weather, long hours in hot boots on steel decks, sleeping cold/hot/upright/kinked, being sweaty and non-stop vibrating in a loud helo, always getting the middle coach seat on long-haul flights with multiple stops not the non-stop on military fares, sleeping in a BOQ transient room with sheets so threadbare your big toe snags a hole in it (does not happen in Air Force transient lodging).

There are some things I miss. Some I don’t, but DH and I can handle “uncomfortable” anytime, though we still grumble.

Where are the photos posted that you are referring to? I’ve reviewed the photos on the USNA Alumni Association, but didn’t see photos of the Plebes with wristbands.

I didn't see pictures of plebes wearing the wristbands. And it will be interesting to know where OP saw them. We were looking at Alumni Association albums, and the wristbands were hanging on water bottles together with hand sanitizer

I have seen them on wrists in a few pics; I am on Thornton and Alumni Assoc, do not recall where I saw them. <shrug>

When our kids were little and something wasn’t quite right — injury or illness — and they’d whine about it, we’d always ask, “Does it hurt or is it just uncomfortable?” Invariably the answer was, “It’s just uncomfortable.” So they sucked it up and we got the requisite care, but everyone was clear that the pain threshold was still quite a ways away.

The only times that didn’t really work was when DD sprained her knee and DS dislocated his shoulder — both playing hockey. In that case, yes, it hurt. A lot. But I’m convinced that approach helped DD suck it up through plebe year.

There is also Thornton Studios to purchase access to photos. He posts them by Company and Platoon. It is well worth the $$!
