What should I do?

I have a 3.4 cumulative at the end of my junior year. I’m heavily involved in several choirs, in the community, have been in 3 varsity sports currently finishing with 1, and some other small things like jobs etc. I also received a leadership award from West Point and I have several leadership roles. Here’s the poor part for now- I got a 1080 on my SAT. I know how important the SAT is to get appointment. I am currently just starting a huge tutoring service that gives homework and goes hard for weeks two hours four days a week. Hopefully that will get me above a 1300 or 1400. I’m confused on what I should do here- should I fill out all of my application data for now? How about my nomination information to send to my congressman? I wouldn’t want to put such a prior low SAT score right? Should I wait until August to get my great score back? I’m just confused and don’t know if I should wait pretty close to the deadline to submit my new scores or do it now and just put in the SAT score I already have. Last notes- I’m taking the ACT in September and retaking the SAT in August. Hopefully I can get such a great score that I will be satisfied, but if I need to I have October to take yet another SAT if (hopefully not) needed.

Thanks.

Hi, I'm applying to 2024 too. To start you'll need to open the preliminary questionnaire. It does not ask for GPA, but it does ask for class rank tho. You'll need to put in your personal information, test scores, and your after-school activities, and sports.

The directions say if you won't have test scores, you can leave it blank, and put them inside later. I think the most frequent reasons people are disqualified right away is if they don't meet the basic requirements (age, marriage...) or if they put in a SAT or class rank that is way too low or if there aren't any sports.

Suggest you pick one or the other between SAT and ACT. Select the one you feel more comfortable with. Taking two drastically different tests will drain your brain unnecessarily. Best wishes.

The Academies superscore. There is no penalty for submitting multiple or low scores. They will only count your highest in each section

I’ve done that. I mean applying for nominations and putting in the scores there now.

Start the academy application now. If you have to self report scores, do so. You can wait to send official scores when you get August test results - it is still early, but it won't hurt to send them now. ( however, I would not send them to civilian colleges)

Do not worry about reporting a low SAT score to USMA. You will be evaluated on your highest superscore. Take the tests as many times as you can afford to - you may do extremely well on one section that will boost your superscore significantly.

For the nomination packages, each office has different rules and timelines. Check yours carefully and determine whether or not you can wait until August.

Take an SAT prep class including the free tutorials on line by Aga Khan. Take the SATs the first time they are offered in the Fall, take them again in November.
Look at the average score or the percentiles...try to do the best you can to raise your score. These are early days.
Your deadline is not until late February 2020. Play the long game.

So should i write the SAT score I have now on the application to a nomination interview? Or should I wait to put in my better score that I’ll get in August on it? I think the deadline to apply for a nomination interview is in October.

My opinion is to put your score in now and then update later. You don't want to cut it too close. While every office is different, I don't think a previous low score will be held against you if the new score is better.

Leave plenty of time to be able to confirm that they received the application. Not unheard of that an application gets lost somewhere along the line. If you don't get a letter or email confirming that they have the application, you should email asking for confirmation.
