Do plebes get sent home if they get depressed or injured during indoc and are not able to continue? Can they go back and continue next year? What is the protocol? Do they have to apply all over again?

If they get injured they may stay or get set back to the next year depending on injury. If they are medically diagnosed with depression, they may be set back to the next year. Everybody is depressed during indoc, we all did it. If they quit indoc because it just makes them feel bad the school will never take them back.

Are you asking a hypothetical or is your plebe candidate struggling? Without more specific information, it is difficult to answer your question. There are just too many variables. If your plebe candidate is struggling to the point where he/she is considering leaving, my first suggestion would be to have him/her talk to the chaplain. If you would like to send me a pm with more specifics, I would be happy to try to help.

Ditto kpmom2013. Depression and injury are different things. Just fyi, you may want to reach out via message with specific info. You dont need to put out specific injury info etc to the world. Many people look at this forum

My kid had a very rough Indoc but made it successfully through Plebe year. If you want to chat, reach out on private message. I received a lot of support last year by the members on this forum. Sometimes, it just helps to have someone talk you off the ledge that knows what you’re going through. Lol.

I have recently gone though a similar situation with my DS having anxiety attacks, not able to sleep, 101 fever, coughing, etc. during INDOC and he is a very fit athlete. Private message me if you want to discuss.

Indoc is not a test of physical fitness as it is a test of your resistance to the mind games. I was just so used to dad yelling at me that it didn't phase me after a while. . .

Indoc wasn't very easy for me and I struggled. I came close to just hanging it up a couple of times. I guess that is the point of the exercise, to weed out those that are not motivated enough. I survived, and dealing with the BS of Indoc did me well later in life. . . .

My son also gives me credit for the success he has realized.

came close to hanging it up more like every day back then.

If you don't have these feelings and troubles as a plebe you're not normal. My son is a tough hockey player and triathlete. The physical part was pretty easy for him but the mental aspects were still tough, but not nearly as tough as the 300+ days at sea to places like Somaliland, Pakistan and India. But he made it through and now in his graduation year things are a lot better. Hang in there. It's worth it.
