When / how does DODMERB send scheduling information?

I’ve finished all of my required application documents (I submitted my last document on June 26) and was wondering if I need to finish more of my application to trigger a DODMERB appointment.

These are the only things left to do according to my portal:

Complete BGO Interview
Submit Official Test Scores (I double checked and saw that I had my ACT scores sent to the USNA)
Complete Medical Qualification Exam
Missing Required Documents - High School Transcript (My high school counselor sent them on June 13)

Thanks.

It should happen after they get your transcript, standardized test scores, and BGO interviewer's notes.

My DS's status was Complete Pending Review going into October, before he had his DoDMERB physical.

From what I've read which I am 90% sure is correct, once you have submitted 5 things on the application, the DoDMERB will mail you information for scheduling. This can take up to one month. I'm currently still waiting for mine in the mail, submitted my 5th item one week ago.

Also, the CollegeBoard just holds your score for a bit if you don't pay them extra to send it out right away because... well, they're the CollegeBoard.

Concerning your transcript, I would confirm with your guidance counselor that it was mailed on that date and then email your BGO or Admissions Counselor to see if it was lost in the mail and needs to be re-sent.

I sent my scores for two of my tests (the first one in March and the second one in June.) So far with the summer slump my Admissions counselor hasn't emailed me back yet.

That's the worst! I have been extremely pushy with mine to get her to do everything as quickly as she can. I just exaggerate how urgent my requests are.

Firstly, both DS’s that have gone through this haven’t had much contact with their admissions counselor. The application process is laid out well, including instructions. With patience, your stuff will be processed and loaded into your portal. You really shouldn’t need your counselor except for an occasional issue that is problematic. I’m guessing through both cycles, my sons collectively had maybe three.

And you for sure shouldn’t be “extremely pushy” to get her to do stuff for you. They are people, doing their best. Probably over worked. At a very busy time. And every candidate is in the same boat. You aren’t any more urgent than the next.

Don’t be that candidate that makes unnecessary “demands”. That sure rubs me wrong. And my rub them wrong, too.

^ This... Your sense of urgency isn't their sense of urgency. Most of the admissions counselors are Navy/Marine Corps O-3's, coming off sea duty assignments, and are pretty adept at prioritizing demands on their time and seeing through bluster and BS. The "squeaky wheel" doesn't necessarily get the grease, and in fact, if you are too needy and demanding, will likely attract unfavorable attention. The Admissions staff are all dedicated and hardworking...leave them alone and let them do their job.

To all the 2024 candidates, relax ..this is a marathon, not a sprint. Every year, there is a flurry of questions on this Forum, wondering why something hasn't posted yet, as all rush to get their application in. The same people will be posting wondering why they are still CPR in February/early March.

my mistake. I was thinking of my guidance counselor at my school.. of course no need to be pushy with the admissions counselor.

I hope any guidance counselor is seasoned enough to see through falsely urgent requests by students prone to exaggerating their need above others’ needs, and take care of those students with truly urgent issues, especially those who are considerate and appreciative of a guidance counselor’s efforts and time.

If I am being recruited for a sport and an LOA is a possibility, there is nothing false about my urgent requests. In the past, my guidance counselor has taken weeks to complete simple requests even though at my school they work Mon-Thurs during the summer.. so I believe it's justified to tell her my requests are urgent because it is literally her job. Doesn't mean I am not extremely grateful for her support and the work she has to do for me.

Except that your statement was "I have been extremely pushy", and "I just exaggerate how urgent my requests are." That's what I was reacting to, no matter who you are dealing with. Neither is a good look, in my opinion. No matter who you are talking to or what their job is. Or how if you are a recruited athlete or not....

Apologies. The phraseology should have been "I just make sure she knows how urgent my requests are."

As an aspiring military officer, you should be striving for precision in your communications, on top of exhibiting integrity.

As a school counselor, I hope that you understand that your request is just one of many that counselors must handle, whether they work during the summer or not. It is certainly more appealing to work with a student who has “urgent” deadlines, but is patient, appreciative, and respectful because:
1. If said counselor is needed for anything like a recommendation or evaluation, it’s certainly easier to write for a student who is of those three, and not “making sure she knows” as if she is an idiot.
2. You get more flies with honey, not disrespect.
3. You may be surprised by the knowledge of your counselor. She might just know your true deadlines, and your urgency, just might not be hers. I hope for your sake, you are not burning the bridge for when you need it most.

The art of the "walk back" at work in this thread. ;)
Ok, the whole reason this started was because I mis-read a post by someone saying their admissions counselor was taking forever to respond and they needed to get their stuff in. So I said I would just be a little more pushy, as in a reminder of the urgency of the request, so that they could get their transcript/info in........ I realize I said this in the complete wrong way.. I have not been extremely pushy with mine.

I have been nothing but respectful to my guidance counselor and obviously greatly appreciate what she does for me.. I've also been patient. Even when she doesn't respond for two weeks, which happened earlier this summer, I waited a week before contacting her again. Relax, guys.

Oh boy.

That’s NOT what you said. What you said is what you said.

I’m pretty relaxed myself. That’s also a pretty condescending comment.

Hopefully you misspoke and are not showing your true colors. I know you are young. Lessons to learn....

This thread has gotten pretty off-topic. I apologize for suggesting that students should be pushy with their guidance counselors. My bad.

I do have lessons to learn! I should have thought about my original post a lot more before I sent it. Have a nice day!
