Earthquake news

I spent the last couple weeks in SoCal visiting my son who transferred from Pendleton to 29 Palms. We were in the living room of his new abode putting together a new piece of furniture when the tremor on the 4th hit. He looked at me and asked if I felt movement. He said he felt vertigo and thought he was having a stroke. I told him I always feel like I’m having a stroke but then felt the rolling motion of the quake.

At 8:19 the next night we were chillin in our room at the Lazy Turtle Inn when the 7.1 hit. The room was moving back and forth like a glider swing and lasted several seconds. I left the next day and was happy to see John Wayne airport had not fallen into the Pacific.

People are making too much of this earthquake. Yes in the area it hit, it was strong as hell and did some damage. The rest of us in southern California felt it but it wasnt 7.1 in Los Angeles. What we felt in LA was like a 3.5 max and honestly we dont get excited in LA unless we feel something like a 4.5 or above. Everyone is exciting here of course beause it was a 7.1 From what I hear, it isnt uncommon to have earthquakes in the Ridgecrest area. Not trying to down play it but I went through the Northridge and Whittier Earthquakes ( 6.7 and 5.9) and that was something to write home about. The latest earthquake as felt in LA were gentle rolling movements whose only danger was making your feel nauseous. I think i was annoyed because the media kept harping on it for the next 24 hours and it was annoying. During the Northridge Earthquake i got calls from back east because they assume the whole city went under. Yes there were homes and apartment buildings that were destroyed but next to these destroyed buildings were homes and buildings that had little to no damage. They would show on TV the apartment building that had fallen as to show how much damage there was but they wouldnt show the building next door that was fine. The perception was that everything had been destroyed where it was far from the truth.

He wanted to shake things up.

Now is about the time your DS would be rolling his eyes and say, "Okay dad. That's enough".

Whenever I get on a clever riff (in my opinion) my wife usually says, "Okay Honey, it's time to go home".
