I am currently doing the usmma application for the class of 2024. How much of the application do I need to do before I get contacted by dodmerb, and how will they contact me? Thanks

The Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DoDMERB) will contact you via EMail, with instructions on setting up your online profile.
This is usually after your application has been completed online by you, and requested information (transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc.) has been received.

The EMail will (most likely) be from the CIV team at https://www.dodmets.com/The EMail will include your password, and you will use your last name to login the first time (SSN afterward).
Usually Concordia will do the scheduling, so the EMail could also come from someone at "Concordia" or "Concorde" (or something like that, so check your SPAM folder).

The help menu is here: https://www.dodmets.com/Help.aspx if you have more questions.

THParent is correct. As for the trigger for receiving the DoDMERB email, it changes from year to year. Best advice is to get everything done in the application process that is directly in your control as soon as you can. There are big advantages to getting your physical done soon.

Our DS's triggered in USNA at approx 85%. I have a vague recollection of hearing from somewhere (again, vague) that USMMA wouldn't trigger until you had passing CFA, but don't take that as truth. Just my vague recollection.

In some past years, a passing CFA was the trigger, in so me years it was not. You should definitely get your CFA completed as soon as possible before bad weather and/or sports injuries affect your performance. There is always someone trying to do a CFA in January who does not perform at their best. Do it now!

great advice, we are still practicing the basketball throw and have a practice full test set up for this weekend. Then our DS can gauge how much more training he puts in prior to a filmed test (WP requires). And as a side note, my basketball throw was 29 feet. He made me do it. :(
