I received my email today that I am confirmed for CVW and I literally felt like break-dancing. Very excited to go and my teachers and football coach are also very happy for me. I am blown away at the support my school is giving me for my candidacy.

But I have a question - I also got a "nudge" email that it was suggested that I resubmit 1 item (CFA) in my package - is this a good thing that I am being asked to retake it (meaning I am ok elsewhere ) or don't read anything into it and they send "nudge" emails to everyone just to keep encouraging you? I scored very well on the AFA last week for NROTC scholarship so I am happy to redo the CFA with no problem. (I can always add more pull ups/sit ups and I run twice a day)

However, just wondering if this means anything at all? (Good or bad) I will send my 1st semester transcript too in December. Literally hanging on every email looking for hopeful signs.

Great news, Congrats! What weekend are you going? My DS has not heard back yet after responding to his CVW offer.

On our DS initial application effort he got a 'nudge' phone call from Admissions asking him to retake his CFA. He had already submitted his application and was essentially complete with it and only had his nomination left to obtain. He retook and improved his pull-ups, run time and push ups. The shuttle run and BB throw were about the same. His BB throw was 93 feet, so we thought that would be ok and the shuttle run was dead even. He got his nominations but no appointment. Now, I can't say this was the reason he didn't get an appointment, but it always left me to wonder. DS asked admissions when he got his TWE the 'why' question, and their discussion did not center on the CFA at all, but that is another story.

So if your asking, improve all aspects; why not? Having a goal to improve is never a bad thing and maybe they are looking at who wants to come off the line.

ps - happy ending to the story as he was a successful re-applicant. He is a Firstie now wondering where time has gone......

I remember when my DS got his CVW invite. He was the same way. I am happy for you. You will enjoy the visit. Nearly everyone does.

Whether you get an appointment or not, you find out really fast who is pulling for you throughout this long, drawn-out process. Be sure to thank them all for their support.

Try not to do that. Yeah, easy for me to say!

Not to hijack the theme of this thread, but I would suggest that a passing CFA is rarely (if ever) the sole reason that a candidate is not admitted. Of course, there is a minimum that must be achieved, but beyond that there are many variables that go into the appointment decision, SATs, grades, activities, leadership, evaluations, etc, so it usually possible to distinguish competing candidates. Bottom line, do your best ..then don't look back; it is unlikely that a couple extra pullups re going to be what makes the difference.

Thank you sir. I am going to take it all in for what its worth and if it needs to be redone, it will be. The email said to try and raise the number of push ups and sit ups a little. So I am at the gym every night after football practice doing exactly that - whether I get in or not I am still Navy. NROTC app is done, my first choice already accepted me to the College of Engineering and I am getting the best grades I can (while studying these boards in the lunchroom).
