DS1 received 4 year NROTC MO scholarship. Received medical waiver for past shoulder surgery. Ultimately, very familiar with waiver process. DS2 interested to follow his brother's path. Now a Soph, he suffered a unique injury during middle school. Competitive wrestler who lost a testicle, after blunt force trauma to his groin area. Not hindered in any way. In fact, he's a top three wrestler in his weight class in the state.

I've seen disqualifying information re: hernia, undescended testicle. Nothing located re: whether or not this injury is open to the same scrutiny. Any insight?

Not a doctor nor associated with DoDMERB. Review of DoDI 6130.03 doesn't look like it's disqualifying - this is the basis for all services basic medical standards. Though not Navy, the Army Regulation AR40-501 indicates orchiectomy is not disqualifying for retention as long as there are no complications or residual symptoms. When it's time, fill out the documents, answer honestly and answer only the questions asked - and you've been through this before.

Sorry to hear about this but kudos on your son for continuing to find success in wrestling! This may not be the best platform to find an answer related to your DS’ injury because it is extremely specific and also very rare. The only thing I can recommend is maybe getting in contact with NROTC to get a better gauge of what to expect from DoDMERB. Here is an email to ask any medical questions for NROTC: (pnsc_nrotc_medical@navy.mil). In my opinion it shouldn’t really be an issue if your DS doesn’t have any troubles.
