Hello,
I recieved a letter from the Naval Academy. It said, "We are pleased to advise you that the Admissions Board has found you qualified to compete for admission to the U.S. Naval Academy with the Class of 2025. You are guaranteed an offer of appointment if your remaining admissions requirements are satisfactorily met. YOu should be proud of your outstanding accomplishments as you have earned an opportunity to join one of the country's premier office training programs. As the undergraduate college of the Navy and Marine Corps, the Naval Academy will prepare you to become a leader in the Naval Service and provide an experience unmatched by any other college or university,"

What should I think of this? Was this an LOA? Or encouraging me to finish my application?

Thanks in advance.

In the Candidate Information System, it should be listed next to application status as: Conditional Offer of Appointment LOA
At least, that's how it used to show.

OP, congrats! If you don't mind sharing, what do your stats/ECs look like?

Congrats! Did you receive this letter in your portal? Or was it an email/regular mail?

Updates to candidate status (including LOA’s) will always be updated in the portal. You will also receive an email notifying you of an update to your portal. So it’s hard to miss. Unless your stuff goes into a spam folder. If you have already received correspondence from usna, that shouldn’t be an issue via the same email/browsers as before. But it’s always a good idea to check your spam folder every now and again. And sometimes, emails come from a different source not already allowed.

We only got the actual appointment and PTR in the mail (first mid...with an LOA, which was not mailed). And last year, with second son, only appointment was sent via mail (although it was In portal ASAP, and was mailed about a month later). And last year even PTR was downloaded via an email (vs mailed).

A word of caution here.. we have a new Admissions platform, and it is not fully functional yet. While this statement may have been true under the old platform, I don't think it is safe to assume that is the case this year. (I would this statement is true, and it certainly an aspirational objective, I just don't have complete confidence in the new system to use the term "always".

And obviously it isn’t always, as OP doesn’t see it in the portal. Very good point. And I shouldn’t say *always* ever, especially in 2020.

Usually, and in the past are better choices. Great point!

I’d rather not say on here. But if you message me privately I will share.
Thanks. System wouldn't let me PM you. Maybe you don't have enough posts. No worries. I was just wondering as my DS is also a recruited athlete (Crew) and I wondered if we should also expect an LOA in the mail.

I am on a different sport. My coach mentioned that he was going to try get me one. So I was hoping for one, but tried not to get my hopes about it. I still don’t think it has shown up in the portal.

CONGRATS! This is terrific news. Make sure to go for the VP nomination as well to cover your bases.
