On my nrotc application it says my application is at CNRC for additional processing, is that a good thing? And what does that mean?

Can you guys give your stats, area, 1st choice school etc.? Hoping DS still gets an email but not looking likely since it seems they are out this board. Congratulations to all. Very exciting day.

My stats werent out of this world but actually quite average imo. 1310 SAT and 3.5 UW gpa. I honestly think (if i had to guess) it was my ECs and other things that got me in as well as interview and LORs. From SoCal 1st school choice is Georgetown University. Feel free to pm me if you have any more questions!

Good for you.I’m sure you are far above average. :) Thanks for the update. Good luck with Georgetown.

Huge congrats on a mighty achievement

Good luck to your son!

I also received AFROTC and AROTC, so now I have to really explore the best option for what I want to do in my future more specifically
  • My majors of choice are International Relations/Politics and Russian language
  • SAT: 1450, GPA with 8 APs and 14 honors: 3.8 unweighted
  • National Merit Commended student, AP Scholar with Distinction, National Honor Society
  • Work as a referee, did an 8-wk internship in 2019, do about 40 hours of volunteer work every year since 7th grade - currently an ESL tutor for Spanish-speaking young adults who want to learn English since I can do it online with this pandemic
  • 4-year elected class advisor at my high school (advise principal in matters related to student body activities)
  • I am a recruited athlete at my intended college and have good sports and sports leadership (team captain in HS and club, 4 year starter/letterer), All area and league honors, state all-star team, etc. (high academic D3 in a nationally ranked program that gets to NCAA playoffs most years, but not the commitment of a D1 program)
  • 2nd degree black belt for 12 years, on the competition team
  • 50 hours of flight training in so far and should have PPL by early 2021
  • Girl Scout for 13 years - received bronze and silver awards, not gold. Was to do a Girl Scout service trip to Costa Rica, canceled due to pandemic
  • Selected for German exchange program, canceled due to pandemic
  • NROTC was my first interview of the 3 and it was on Zoom - I REALLY prepared for it by finding the interview form online, and wrote down all my responses and studied them for a couple of days.

Awesome. I am hopeful for son, but if not it’s not meant to be and that’s ok. He has USCGA acceptance for ‘military” and likes that, so if that s what presents itself than he could be way worse off. Waiting on a bunch of others. I am a member of a scholarship committee and always give a lot of credit to the Girl scouts who stick with it with their bronze, silver, gold awards and Eagle Scouts etc. Where do you want to go? (School wise?)
Moving on, for those who know from other years, (daughter was selected in first board so I don’t know how it works otherwise), do they all come out at once so we should just quit checking portal and move on to January‘s hopeful list? Or do they trickle out? Thanks all and well done to those selected. For those who don’t know yet, keep fingers crossed.

Congrats to your son! But there is plenty of time right?

I had started my Gold Award. My project was teaching girls self-defense (using my karate background) and as part of it, required teaching some classes in person. Unfortunately with the pandemic, the entire chapter shut down so I couldn't even see if I could change directions and do something online, and I essentially ran out of time to get it back on track once things started opening again. I love Girl Scouts! As a recruited athlete though, seeking to attend high academic schools, the best advice I ever got was to take my SATs in my sophomore year just to be sure I was targeting the right schools. The advice ended up being even better than what I had thought given my junior year was consumed by a pandemic, so I feel very fortunate to have had that going for me. And I would tell anyone reading this who is younger, don't take the SATs unless you plan to study first. It's a waste to go and "see how you do" and you never know when something might happen (like a pandemic) and you won't be able to retake at some later point!

My school choice is Carnegie Mellon.

I agree so much. My son’s high school college counselor didn’t want students taking tests early and he always would take one each year (ACT though) just for practice. I saw no harm but think sometimes that the schools like to increase their range of average ACT‘SAT and if you are winging it or practicing it, it can skew the results. Anyway, many of his friends were in a bad way. He fortunately had a high ACT (35) so it saved him this year. You are so right in that you just never know what may be around the corner. Contingency plans are so important. My daughter’s good friend loved Carnegie Mellon and now has her PHD in Mechanical Engineering. Very good school.

Good luck to your son and wish him receive a scholarship from the next board!

My daughter also received an Email this afternoon notifying her of being awarded the scholarship. Some of her stats are SAT 1570+, GPA 4.0/4.8+, NMSF, National AP Scholar, All-State finalist and coach in her sports throughout high school. She is a STEM student particularly focusing on math and physics. She is very excited and truly honored to be awarded the scholarship.

My DS seeing this in his portal "Your application is at Naval Education and Training Command for final processing and selection determination." Is that the same thing as CNRC? Just not sure if his package was part of this last Board or not.

https://www.netc.navy.mil (Pensacola)
https://www.cnrc.navy.mil (Navy Recruiting Command, 5722 Integrity Drive, Bldg. 784, Millington, Tenn. 38054)

I truly am unsure... these are the links I find. I also would like to know ;)

Unless something has changed from 4 years ago, the application package needs to end up in Pensacola with NETC. That is where the boards are held. At least pre-COVID. I don't remember it going to CNRC, but that may be a change or I may be forgetting that step. Sounds to me like the application is where it needs to be, but likely was not reviewed this last board as it is still undergoing final processing. As I recall, once it is processed the status changes to something saying No Decision Has Been Made until a final decision is made.

My DS status just changed about an hour ago and now says: "The NSTC Selection/Placement Office has received your application. Selection Status: No decision has been made on your application." He did not receive any email. We will assume that means he has rolled to the next Board.

Yes you are correct. My DS was in the same boat so we emailed Pensacola and they said all of these results have been uploaded and he will be rolled to the next board. He is disappointed but I told him that there are still several opportunities. Any thoughts on redoing the SAT or the PT test prior to the January board? He had a 1410 SAT and did pretty well on the PT test (maxed pushups and situps but his run was a bit slow)
