Good Afternoon to all! My name is Liberty, and I'm a sophomore in high school!
A bit about me! I'm a major Military History Buff, IN LOVE with Orienteering for my NJROTC team, and a Rep. for my choral class and a SGT. for the Police Cadets. I also do theatre here and there to get some more skills in music.
I have a goal to come to Coast Guard Academy and thrive amongst many of you! (unsure what to major in... hmmm.) But, no problem! I chose the Coast Guard Academy because of its shining legacy in United States History and it's Militarized Culture. I can't wait to peruse this Academy, and possibly, see some of you there! :)

PS: For those wondering:
my GPA: 3.23 (I'm working on it, doing AP classes next semester and duel enrolment next year)
PSAT: 1320
I haven't taken the SAT, so... There we go there! :)

Nice meeting you all!

I love to see young people with a goal. Sounds like you are working hard, getting lots of experience in a variety of things. You have plenty of time to research a major. Keep reaching for the stars and start working on a backup plan b, c, and d as you pursue your goal.

Of course! If I don't get in, I plan to enlist as a BM and then reapply while attending college on the way!

General Coast Guard etiquette is that Captains are Captain, not sir or ma'am! True for all O-5 and above.
Just the opposite in the Marine Corps. All officers are addressed by their juniors as sir or ma'am. That's especially true for captain and above. Getting away with calling a butter bar looootenent is easy. Even the most senior enlisted and officer would never address a Marine O-6 as colonel.

I was in NROTC MO before the Academy, and it was an adjustment for sure! I do like that the Marine Corps has worked out a form of address for multiple seniors (ladies, gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen, etc.) as it's always awkward passing multiple officers, especially of the same rank, without that form of address available.

Maybe, but as Capt MJ was in the Navy and not the Coast Guard that isn’t an issue.

I know, but the topic came up above of how the Coast Guard addresses a Captain, and we are in the Coast Guard thread, so I thought it was still appropriate. Regardless, it was a lighthearted comment and not a correction or anything of the sort.
