This has gone too far

You do know they put this on their social media accounts a year ago. It's an old story.

Been that way for about a year if I recall correctly. The Navy’s social media has gotten very “memified” over the past few years, I guess it yields more attention, but is it really the right kind of attention? (Talking about their memes in general here not the mask avatar).

The services - in this case whoever is running the PA department in the Navy - are trying to put on a good face to the public. The masks are useless and most people know it. But god forbid Private Snuffy isn’t wearing his in formation when a picture is taken that gets posted on the Army’s Facebook account. It’s just virtue signaling and pandering to another social trend.

Just gonna say that when you choose to join the Armed Forces, it should be because you want to protect our country and those you love. By choosing to not wear a mask, you're doing the complete opposite of that. Wearing a mask is to protect others from catching the virus and getting sick. This isn't about you, and if you're selfish enough to complain about having to wear a piece of cloth over your face to keep others safe, then I wonder where your judgement lies when it comes to keeping others safe on the battlefield.
