When a National Guard Reservist goes to college, what is the limit on the amount of tuition the Guard pays?

If you are talking about SMP then - yep - in many cases. This depends on the state and the payment is generally for in-state tuition.
If you are talking about an enlisted NG soldier going to college - I know there is money for education. How much depends on the state, the commitment and time served.

mwbluebeard,

In response to your question; it depends on the state and college. Here in Massachusetts, students get "free tuition" to any public college (like my college) if they join the Guard.

I recommend that you check with each individual college to see what their policies are.

I also very much encourage you to understand that the Guard pays TUITION. I have had several families over the years think that the Guard was paying for their full educational costs.

I am a strong supporter of the Guard - however, it is very important that a student check out all of the pros/cons before signing a Guard contract.

Feel free to contact me if you have questions.
