YOUR DOGS, CATS & Other Domestic Fauna - Cute, sad, buff or silly

When it’s 96 and humid in Annapolis, you arrange your bed to your taste between two AC floor vents, and nap the afternoon away. Until someone tries to take your picture, and you give them the “What??!” look.

My beloved granddog Cheddar (my Avatar in his puppy era) was put to sleep last Wednesday after a 6 month battle with lymphoma. The vet gave him a month, he gave us all 6. His mom and dad were with him, he was loved beyond measure and gave us 3 amazing years.

Today was his 'gotcha' day, and we are remembering him fondly. I was lucky to have him as my 1st granddog.

Seeing everyone's nature and pup pictures made me think of him today. I think I will keep my Avatar indefinitely.

The Jedipups, American cocker spaniels. The boy on the right is 11 and a therapy dog. The boy on the left is 3 and...not quite in control of himself yet, let's just say. DH calls Lefty the "happiest little guy in fur" and it's really true.

Our 50% Husky, 50% Shepherd mix....who is 100% stupid...got into it with some type of furry forest creature last week.

He now wears the cone of shame.

Damned if he didn't shoot out of the back deck door, and try to chase down a squirrel, this evening.

To quote John Wayne (sort of)- "A dog's gotta do what a dog's gotta do."

We are a house of rescue cats...

This is Princess being, well, a Princess. She was a feral rescue as a kitten and is now 7.
She is living the life she deserves. I like the one paw elegantly and languidly hanging off her perch.

I think cats have never strayed far from their cousins’ genetics, habits and lifestyles.

“I know the location of every AC floor vent in this house, because I know they are there for my comfort. Normally I drape my entire body across it, especially my gentlemanly parts, but I wanted to show you how smart I am.”

Their current housemates are anxious to meet them. The kittens were just spayed and neutered, so they are staying in DW's office for now, but the tenured pets pushed the door open to check things out. The kittens seemed curious and I am hopeful for their peaceful co-existence. Even looking forward to the kittens and dog playing together. Resident cat is 17 and doesn't have much play in her.

I'mma leave this here.

This is Dakota. Three months after we moved into our house in 97, this stray 8 week old furball was whining next door. When I came home, before I said a word, my son ran up and said "Can we keep him?"

We had him 13 years. Great dog (as they all are).

Boxer Team Nap. They both had drinks of water, washed each other’s faces and ears, tidied paws and personal parts, and are amicably sharing the much-battered dog bed, which occasionally doubles as a tug toy. That’s why it’s a Kong bed. D8A6D501-7747-4086-9F63-B4A0838D78E0.jpeg
