I realize this is a bit early, but my Mid is looking ahead to possible summer classes. When do Mids typically find out when they are going to CORTRAMID?

Assuming your mid is contracted. He should get orders March-April. He may find out earlier. My DS did not get his travel finalized to SD until 2 days before departure.

The finalized travel sounds about right, lol. Thank you. This is the info I was looking for.

I'll just add too that Cortramid/ Summer Cruises and per an earlier note from someone else NSI this year were not guarantees for NROTC national scholarship winners. Well, NSI at SMCs is seen as redundant and I believe most incoming there don't attend NSI anyway. But reports came from all 3 not having the experience they expected. This year a number of midshipmen designated themselves to return to NSI as an instructor, or :"chose" to go on a specific summer cruise, and then ended up going - nowhere. It was pretty awkward as my DS went on a dream cruise but a number of his buddies kept waiting for the phone to ring, and it just didn't.

So the key word you may wish to find if you're planning on taking summer courses is "Asynchronous" since maybe he can take a course, slam through the modules online to allow himself the window he needs for summer training.

Good luck.

Thank you! Feedback from those with experience is much appreciated. My DS was lucky to go to NSI this summer, but I know not everyone did.

DS didnt get his summer cruise dates until 10 days prior to leaving. and the exact travel schedule was provided the night before he left
And this is normal for all military, I’ve learned. My Mids have had the same experience through USNA, and my enlisted Air Force, same story. As an FYI!!

While March/April is always the target, in the past few years I never got mine officially more than 14 days before I was leaving. With that said, they are almost always able to give you your top preference, if not your top 2. Every year about 10-15 ppl of my unit did summer classes.
