My wife and kids are going to the academy tomorrow our son just finished his virtual summer seminar. He’s been texting with some of the wrestling team. He’s captain of his hs team now. It’s his first visit to any college what should he try and see. Thanks

Pike’s Peak, whose view of the plains inspired “amber waves of grain” in “America the Beautiful.”

If DS is into planes, he’ll enjoy this museum in Denver. If you’re on a schedule, keep an eye on traffic. Rush hour around Denver is torture.

If you are up for a hike - Eagle's peak is a trek but it's pretty awesome. It's a bit of a rite of passage for doolies (or it was) but if you love strenuous hikes with awesome views, it's the hike for you.

At USAFA itself, there isn't really that much. Not sure what's open to the public these days, but generally just driving around and looking at things is great. I'm not sure about USAFA tours this time of year - but maybe someone with knowledge or a cadet with some availability will chime in here. You can't get in to the cadet area very easily, so without a tour/escort you'll be limited to looking in at the cadet area from the chapel wall (assuming that's still open...I am realizing I don't even know what state of construction the chapel is at)

He will have an escort for the tour so hopefully he will get to see a bit more of the campus.

FYI... The USAFA chapel won't be reopening to the public until 2027

If there is a tour take! If there is a dedicated candidate tour, do that one. I'm convinced the tour of any school is vital

As of June, the self guided items are all still open, and you can watch from the wall next to the chapel. Basic Cadets are up at Jacks this week (March back is Friday), so there will probably not be much happening down on the Terrazzo. If you have time to take in a show at the planetarium I recommend it. Nice small facility right next Arnold Hall and the wall overlook.

I assume you know that the north gate entrance has some issues this week due to construction.

He had a great visit I think he would go for a pilot slot if he gets in. They went whitewater rafting today. He is planning for his cfa this weekend with his rotc sgt. best of luck to everyone going for class of 27.
