The Bad: Government is expecting him to pay back his time enrolled at USAFA. They take any money he would have received on a tax return, but otherwise he hasn't received a thing from anyone as to how much money he owes or what the interest rate is or even who he'd send money to if he wanted to...

"To profit from good advice requires more wisdom than to give it." We are staying out of the way. They have it all "figured out". Thanks for all your comments, suggestions, etc... I think at age 22 it's time to pull up the big boy pants and get going. Tired of giving advice that isn't...

i haven't looked back at my posts, but i don't believe i said he didn't tie his tie correctly and miss classes at the end of his fourth class year. the tie was freshman year, missed class was sophomore year. then... GF moves to town and another missed class happened and the sleepover. i...

the girlfriend is a civilian and VERY young. she is about to be a daughter-in-law and i almost have as many questions about her lack in judgement as i do about his. the story goes: it was late, they were getting up early to play golf and made the TERRIBLE decision to stay there instead of...

the blood out of a turnip comment was because i read a report that said in the past they are not collecting the money or doing a good job even trying to collect the money. i don't have 10 or more posts, so this site won't let me post the link. LOL!

let's make one thing perfectly clear... i am not saying he isn't in the wrong. i never said he shouldn't be disenrolled. my original post asked if anyone thought disenrollment was excessive. the wholehearted answer to that question is "NO" from everyone and i haven't argued that at all. the...

i have read many things regarding re-payment. evidently, USAFA has a hard time getting the money back. i assume the old "you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip" might apply to those instances.

he likely won't appeal. i'm not even sure there is an appeals process. like i said before, i'm pretty much out of it. just getting opinions/statements from others who might have been through this. as a parent, it is really disheartening.

there has been a board. i think the commission isn't the big thing, it's graduating at this point. carries a 3.0 gpa, which is all for nothing now. pretty sure he'll have to pay back the $. my problem is that's it's all subjective. are you disenrolled for 200 demerits? 300? criminal problems...

my son is being disenrolled from USAFA this week (22 days before graduating with an aero degree) for having too many demerits. there has been no honor code violations, no criminal problems, etc... his tie was too short, he missed some class and the straw that broke the camel's back was that...
