I day Schedule on June 29th?

Thanks for the reply... I was wondering about the schedule for the whole day, including the Parents Club. I know they have a picnic that goes to 1:30 or so, but I wanted to make sure we didn't miss out on anything after that. Thanks...

    For Those Awaiting an Appointment/TWE

Congratulations! There's no place like the military academies. That's where the generals and admirals come from. The networking opportunities alone are worth it. He'll make friends he/she will be working with for the rest of their career.

Advice for 2021 from a Current Cadet

What brand/type of boots do you recommend? Nike.. etc? What about the boots they give you, do you just hold on to them?

I day Schedule on June 29th?

We are dropping off our son for I day on the 29th of June, and are trying to figure out when to schedule flights out for some of our relatives who need to leave on the 29th. We don't want to miss anything, so does anyone have a schedule for that day? I know we drop off the cadets earlier in the...

Offered Falcon Scholarship, but appointed to USMA

Hello, thanks for the comments. We have a neighbor who used to teach at USAFA and he pretty much said the same thing. However, he said the quality of life in the Air Force is substantially better. But he suggested that he think about what he wants to do in the future and then figure out the best...

    Falcon Foundation Scholarship

Thank you for your post. Could you elaborate a little more? Are you saying there are too many chances to "drift" if he went to NWP? Are there significantly different success rates for each school? Thanks!

Offered Falcon Scholarship, but appointed to USMA

Do the right thing, that's my motto as well. Especially as a parent. I think a little more academic prep, and maturity would go a long way as well. Thanks!

Offered Falcon Scholarship, but appointed to USMA

Thank you for your thoughtful comments. My son was initially gung ho for the Air Force, but since USAFA took so long to reply, he's sort of has convinced himself USMA would have been a better choice anyway. My son does fine with academics if he applies himself, but he is a born leader. His USMA...

Offered Falcon Scholarship, but appointed to USMA

My son received an appointment to West Point, but also received an offer of a Falcon Scholarship to USAFA. He's always wanted to be in the Air Force, but he has a guaranteed appointment to the USMA. I've heard kids actually do better at the Academies if they have been through the prep school...

    Falcon Foundation Scholarship

My son received an email, parents should too, and it was listed in the portal.

    Falcon Foundation Scholarship

My son just received a Falcon Scholarship today as well. In the letter they sent him it mentions estimated out of pocket expense. Does this include room and board if he goes to one of the schools, or is that on your own? Thanks...

ACT & SAT practice scores being reported on HS Transcript

I didn't have ACT send scores. That was the whole point. Apparently High Schools automatically get scores for SAT and ACT. My son's school decided to include all those scores on his transcripts. They deleted them now, but the cat is already out of the bag, so to speak.

Being offered several Scholarships. Does ACCEPTING equal ENROLL?

Not trying to overthink this. But one word could make a difference in a contract. There's a whole profession that makes a good living at word torture. I know college admission and ROTC acceptance are two different things, as my posts clearly show. Thanks for the input. As an aside, is it...

Being offered several Scholarships. Does ACCEPTING equal ENROLL?

So what does enroll actually mean if not acceptance? I know colleges don't want people to accept offers of admittance to several universities. Some even say if you accept their offer of admission, and then accept one somewhere else, your offer will be withdrawn. The NROTC contract specifically...

Being offered several Scholarships. Does ACCEPTING equal ENROLL?

My son's ROTC scholarship letters are starting to come in. After reading many previous threads, he is still not sure how he should proceed. He was offered a NROTC scholarship to his #1 choice which is a great private school ($$$). However, he hasn't been officially accepted there and the ROTC...

ACT & SAT practice scores being reported on HS Transcript

Thanks for your reply. As I said earlier, I contacted the school and they said they will remove the scores in the future. Not that it helps in this case. We felt there is no real practice like the real thing. So, we gave him the opportunity to take it "for practice" and just paid to send the...

ACT & SAT practice scores being reported on HS Transcript

Thanks, I just wish the ACT scores weren't there in the first place. If for only psychological reasons. Humans being what they are. I just talked to his high school and they said they can delete that information in the future. They were surprised the scores were used anyway, since they weren't...

ACT & SAT practice scores being reported on HS Transcript

In this case the would be no history for the ACT. Just the one test he did for practice and only performed average. On his West Point Portal it shows two scores, his highest composite SAT scores, and his only ACT score. That's what prompted me to write here. I know you can translate ACT scores...

ACT & SAT practice scores being reported on HS Transcript

My son has applied to all the Academies and prior to sending his scores into the Academies he took several practice SAT's and ACT's. When he was done taking tests, and ready to send in his scores to the Academies he had them send his best scores, which happened to be his SAT's. He only did...
