USNA Class of 2027 Waitlist: Team Hopeful

My empathy is there with all of the applicants and their families as they navigate this. I totally understand how difficult it is to navigate these last minute waters and the unknowns. For those who didn’t get the result they desired this time, know that there are many in your situation...

Roller coaster III: Get Me (The Parent) Through 3/C Year Class of ‘25

Brett Baier just showed clips from the commencement on Fox. Super cool, can't wrap my brain around it being my kid's turn in 364 days.

Roller coaster III: Get Me (The Parent) Through 3/C Year Class of ‘25

FB messenger worked when DS was in Iceland on an LREC. He just called to tell me he was officially a Firstie and wearing the appropriate shoulder boards. Don't blink.

    Is a 1310 a competitive SAT?

Never submit an application super early in the cycle if it can be improved substantially by waiting. You have until 31 January. Don’t get too antsy, it’s difficult, but this isn’t a he/she who submits first wins situation.

    Is a 1310 a competitive SAT?

Test scores have no bearing on summer program selections. If you have the time to prep and test again do so. My son was appointed with a lesser score, but his ACT was higher and his GPA and course load made up for the lesser score. I also have no clue who his competition was that cycle...

Post-Appointment Class of 2027 Hangout: PTR, I-Day, What To Bring, Leave Periods…all that endless new stuff

I was a Covid mom so have no personal experience but having just spent a month in DTA, I would say that sounds like a stress-free plan. On a random Thursday DTA traffic is crazy with cars and pedestrians. I cannot even imagine it I Day. A bus with AC sounds amazing.

🌟 Countdown to commissioning ‘23: ARE YOU READY??

DS said it was incredible, his GF said, 'Don't you even think about flying those things', lol. As though the helos he hopes to fly are wrapped in bubble wrap. Glad they are all enjoying the week. Glad you stayed dry @brewmeist , that's not the cleanest/not stinky water right there. :)

🌟 Countdown to commissioning ‘23: ARE YOU READY??

Yeah, we are a year out and we've already had conversations about him being busy, not necessarily staying with us or seeing us daily. He may stay with his sponsors and leave another bed for a guest in our rental. We just want to chill out, attend what fits us, and not put too much energy into...

    Number of Varsity Letters

1st, congratulations to your son on earning his second-degree belt, it's a huge accomplishment requiring years of commitment. During our son's admission cycle, he reached out to his admission rep asking about this. He had done TKD for 10 years, competed, taught, ran testing, and earned his...

Candidate Number for Class of 2028

Admissions are working on them. USNA had an IT issue end of last week causing minor hiccups. Patience is encouraged by admissions, so BGOs are spreading patience to candidates.

    Math and English Evaluations

If you have teachers that want to write you a letter of rec (traditional type, as opposed to the online evaluations that USNA requires from specific teachers), you could have them prepare them. Whether or not USNA will allow them to be submitted is up to admissions. You may need those letters...

PTR Letter with Report Time Out

For those that haven't been on the yard before, if you enter through Gate 1, it's a solid walk to get to Alumnus Hall. It's easily a 15-minute walk without stopping and gaping at all of the gorgeous things along the way.
