C/O '26 parents - place to commiserate and share. Roller coaster for the next 3 years!

The vast majority of alumni, some of whom are in decision level positions do not agree with you about this. There have been instances in the past with season ending injuries where a player COULD have been sent home on "medical leave" so that the academy could "have" him for another season but it...

    Athlete nominations

I believe that USAFA has 3 this year which I think is terrible but its a lot less than they had last year. USNA has zero and has not allowed any "COVID 5 year plan" shenanigans.

Yet USAFA again has some 5th year cadets playing football. Just because the NCAA is allowing it does not mean that the SERVICE ACADEMIES have to allow our Cadets/Mids to do it. That pretty much spits in the face of service before self.

Of course, sometimes Bill is just plain tired out from his multitudinous duties and needs to zone out for a while.

    Restricted line officer?

Note: most of what is done by AD TAR folks is at the installation (Reserve Center) and above levels. Much of the admin effort that a DivO or Department Head handles aboard an afloat unit is done within the Reserve Unit by its own (Reserve) folks. With many/most units not having actual...

    Restricted line officer?

The vast majority of Navy Reserve Officers and Enlisted people are former Active Duty personnel. Unlike the National Guard, there is not much of a career path for Direct Accessions from civilian life directly into inactive reserve duty. Over the past 40 or so years, there have been some...

Did you hear the news? There was a break-in at the police station today and the toilet was stolen. The police have nothing to go on.

Yes, they do not vote but their briefing is for the particularly desired athletes and carries a lot of weight.

    Official athletic visit

Actually, within the Admissions world, it means quite a bit. An Athletic Rep does sit in on Admissions Boards and generally, being "blue chipped" means that the Athletic rep will participate on this specific applicant's behalf. There are limited numbers of Blue Chips authorized and yes, they...

Packing for 1st assignment on a boat

It's been a while but I don't think that I ever had to buy sheets/pillow for any of my ships. Towels are different story but I got plenty of towels and washcloths in my initial plebe issue and they worked just fine for me aboard ship. For NROTC grads, I would expect that they had towels, etc...

What is the general USNA attitude towards the medical corps?

Roger that, was not thinking of death/disabled benefit and was instead thinking of the ability to "sign over" the veteran's own benefits to dependents
