I don’t know about a limit, but ours told us this past Sunday that he’s now getting up at 0445 to be on the wall at 0500. It was 0530… I hope they’re able to adjust and get to sleep earlier if needed. It’s hard to watch them go through all of this, but trying hard to trust the process.

With a kid at an SMC right now, the advantage for him that I see, is that he’s learning so much military stuff right off the bat with the lifestyle. The corps of cadets has him marching, rappelling, PT-ing at a high level, keeping his room ready for inspection and learning everything army right...

Does anyone know when the kids are supposed to get their iPads from Norwich? Is it when they get there? I thought I read somewhere that they send them out to the kids. One other question, anyone that got a national scholarship hear about arriving early for an ROTC scholarship dinner?

We just went through this. Once it’s closed at DoDMETS it goes to dodmerb which you will be sent an email saying to go watch it over there. You’ll have another login there and it will switch to qualified or not qualified after a few weeks there. Ours was quick once it went to dodmerb. Hope that helps….

If we’re talking Army, the scholarship website talks about this in the FAQs or additional information…? section and said to reach out to the closest rotc department to you and they’ll send someone to the ceremony. Doesn’t have to be the school they’re going to, just closest in proximity.

Thanks for starting this! My son will be AROTC class of 27 too! Are you guys in the Norwich University families class of 2027 official group on Facebook? It was emailed to the kids recently. Full of great info over there and lots of excited kids and families.

Does anyone know about how long after DODMETS site says complete for the 2 appointments they’ll let you know if they need additional info or if you are disqualified for something? How will they let us know if additional info is needed? Email to kid?

I’m so impressed with Norwich too! DS was awarded full tuition plus room and board paid freshman year also to go along with his national scholarship. Was not expecting that at all. What a deal! I hope others out there read this and consider Norwich when looking at schools.

I don’t think it would annoy the ROO to hear from your DS about campus based scholarships. They would know he’s definitely interested. The impression we got from Norwich was they get these kids on scholarship if they want it. I hope he reaches out to them and lets them know he got that offer...

Has anyone’s DS/DD heard back about the honors program? My DS applied but has not heard anything since getting the receipt email. Might mean he didn’t get it?

Boots! Are the ones that Norwich recommends any good? Would like to get them soon so they get broken in. Should we get the temperate ones and winter ones now or wait for winter ones until needed? Thanks for starting this thread. All of the questions above have helped us here too.

DS received an email last night with instructions to begin the DoDMERB process. He got a 3 year on the last board so maybe watch your email? I’m sure we’ll be starting the process ASAP since reading on here it can take a long time to complete.

This is how I thought it went. When you elect corps of cadets in your application that means you’ll be participating in ROTC. I think the poster above is waiting on scholarship “acceptance””. We are too :) but if none comes he’ll earn it once he’s there, I’m crossing my fingers.
