Hangout: USNA Induction Day / I-Day Class of 2028: Thursday 27 June 2024

As paperwork gets sorted and packaged for I-Day, one question we have is regarding the SF 86 security clearance document. I know it will be something he brings with him and references later during PS, but what does everyone do with it on I-Day since it is not something that gets submitted...

    Basketball Walk-on

So DS asked if I knew if there were walk-on tryouts for the men’s basketball team and when they would be. He couldn’t find anything online, nor could I. I am a high school coach at a large school (3000 students) and have had 18 D1 players in my career. DS and I are keenly aware of what it...

Hangout: USNA Induction Day / I-Day Class of 2028: Thursday 27 June 2024

I don’t know much about USNA or Plebe Summer or AC or anything, but I feel compelled to share this. I’m a fan of Duke head women’s basketball coach Kara Lawson. I have sent this to DS in the lead up to I-Day. The things I’ve read and watched about PS make me believe that Plebes need to embrace...

Hangout: USNA Induction Day / I-Day Class of 2028: Thursday 27 June 2024

Pardon the silly question. DS asked today if he was allowed to go ahead and shave his head before I-Day. Some of his friends are wanting to just for kicks. He thought, “Why not? I have to anyway.” I told him he would be allowed. Might that be a way to “stand out” on I-Day, though?

    Swimming NASS

    ABS Math Assessment

Appreciate the insight and the advice from both of you. It will be heeded by DS and the counsel about being in the moment will be followed by me as well. Many thanks.

    ABS Math Assessment

DS is about to sit and take the math assessment as part of the ABS in the PTR. He’s asking how hard it is. I have no idea. Does anyone have any background in this? Is this high level stuff, or does he not need to stress too much about it? He took Honors Pre-Calculus last year and AP Calculus...

    Am I Cooked (SAT)

Old Navy BGO is correct. Nobody can tell you whether it's "good enough;" however, generally speaking, that is an awfully good score. BZ.

I apologize if this has been asked and answered already. I cannot find anything about this in the SAF search, and we are in the USNA paperwork morass right now. Lol. The PTR package document says, "You should have received an email from sponsor@usnamail.usna.edu to your personal email." DS has...

Hangout: USNA Induction Day / I-Day Class of 2028: Thursday 27 June 2024

So we are reading this correctly about the police record check? DS has to go to city and county police and have them fill out the forms separately and mail them in. Just the city police won't suffice?

Hangout: USNA Induction Day / I-Day Class of 2028: Thursday 27 June 2024

When they say "math assessment," is that a math test? Does it need to be proctored or anything like that?
