V22CrewChief, my son is an enlisted Marine, he received a direct appointment back in January. He received his LOA through his CO and his BFE came to him directly.

NavyFleetMom, Congratulations to your DS and please thank him for his service! We leave about 40 minutes from Newport RI. God always has a plan :)

BFE arrived today! We are so excited :bounce::bounce:it's been a long wait since our DS received his LOA on January 17th. Our DS is a Marine so we had to call him to let him know that he had mail. Can't wait until he comes home on Friday to celebrate! Hoping this thread is filled with good...

Good Morning NavyFleetMom - I read that the Academy can take up to 170 Enlisted. Usually more Navy than Marines. Not sure if they have filled all slots due to qualified applicants or just not enough enlisted applying. It's a good questions to ask. Fingers are crossed for you DS. Hope to meet...

Hi Spud - Please accept my apology I miss understood your response. I agree 100% go the civilian route, it is not an easy process if you are already enlisted. I thought you meant if enlisted, and I was curious to find out your thought on the subject :)...

Spud, I do agree it is more difficult, however, each enlisted's story is different and I commend all enlisted that have such a desire to attend the academy. May I ask, what do you mean by more fraught with pitfalls and personalities? I can only share my DS's story and that is he never planned...
