    Caffeine

Current cadet. Over the last two weeks I averaged going to bed at 1 AM. Got up at ~6AM every day except sunday. Manage it with caffeine; some people use nicotine. Napping can help, when there's time. It makes learning things way harder though. I feel like I'm operating at 50% cognitive potential...

    Thoughts on my chances?

@A1Janitor Apologies for the poor phrasing. You're right. What I meant to say there was that the LOA moves your application ahead regardless of how other people on your slate are ranked or viewed by the academy.

    Thoughts on my chances?

Would concur that it's true. They don't typically look at your slate to determine if you'll get an LOA. That's why LOAs are special...they can potentially bump you up past someone higher on your slate. The way I view the process is as follows: CCs submit parts of their application early-->their...

Leaving College After Two Years to Join USMA

It's up to you. Like @usmausmausmausma, I am straight from high school. But I do have several classmates who have completed Bachelor's degrees already, and have decided it's worth it to attend West Point anyway. Just some perspective.

    Advice on USNA

Join me in the Army. Fr tho, if you don’t even know if you’d go, I think that’s the answer. You do what you want, but I wouldn’t reapply if I were happy with my current trajectory, and not even certain I wanted to go to the school im reapplying to. Sounds like you’re not 100% committed now...

Which summer seminar is the easiest to get into?

NASS was most likely easiest to get into. SLE had two sessions of ~550. NASS had three of about 800.

    SLE Tips?

Enjoy it, be social and make great friends, do your absolute best on the CFA so you don't have to retake it at a later date.

    Just Finished Plebe Year. AMA.

Do you lift? If so, do you have any tips for balancing desire for muscle mass/strength with the ability to run distance effectively? Thanks! Also, what was your ACFT score, if you don't mind me asking.

    Running shoes

Get good running shoes, you can just take them off to squat and deadlift (I squatted 405 barefoot)

    USMA Appointment after a refusal

I'd say so...maybe sizing down a half size if on the line of, for example 10 or 10.5, but they're pretty good and true to size I think.

    USMA Appointment after a refusal

garmont t8 NFS...available on Amazon sometimes and also on the Garmont website. I also have pretty flat feet and they've felt good over at least 10 miles of rucking and several more of just walking around.

    SLE transportation questions

The above from @mb2028 works for sure, especially for cadets; the other option I'd consider would be a car rental, so she rents one straight outta the airport and then drives up to USMA. A little bit more expensive probably, but also more straightforward (and you're not depending upon an...

Tips to bolster the Community Leadership aspect of my application?

Your leadership looks really good, a couple more varsity letters in sports would definitely help; shooting for team captain in them would be good also. The fact that you're also attending Boys State, and have NHS, and are President, are both really really good things. That's a lot of points. Not...
