Is one year of AFROTC considered active duty?

American Legion requires proof of Active Duty Service and pretty much will always want a DD-214. People joining online might slip through for a time but will eventually need to show the document. VFW requires proof of specific deployment which is generally through earned awards...

Is one year of AFROTC considered active duty?

The basic commitment that everyone incurs has not changed and remains eight years which can be a mixture of Active, Drilling Reserve and Inactive Reserve (actually more categories within those three). That is the same commitment that is used with drafting people or with enlisted people. I...

Any way to anonymously report a Sponsor family?

Sidenote: People who claim that DD bagels are the best should not be allowed to claim New York residency.

Any way to anonymously report a Sponsor family?

I was a member of an Admin Discharge Board that dealt with the whole secondhand cannabis smoke issue 25 or so years ago. E5 who had just reaffiliated into USNR claimed that his positive test was due to secondhand smoke and his lawyer (yes a lawyer at admin discharge board) brought a medical...

What are you getting drug tested for? The specifics of your testing regimen might be different from DoD's tests.

whats the jazz about this new supt

The question was about 1972 and prior. USNA companies formed up, mustered and then MARCHED to chapel. There was no choice of time slots nor choice of treats. People who were excused and did not march were mustered to different "church parties" which attended elsewhere. NOTE: I did not...

    Importance of certain extracirriculars

For future reference for other candidates who may pull up this thread: 1. YOU decide when to take the SAT, not your school. 2. There is ABSOLUTELY no need to take the PSAT prior to taking the SAT 3. Even if you've taken the SAT a few times and had good scores, still take the PSAT as a Junior...

    Medical Coverage - Family Policy

For Service Academies, while we're calling it Tricare, it is actually the military medical system and in my experience, getting a second opinion was not difficult for things beyond slam dunk type stuff. There is absolutely no expense.

    Importance of certain extracirriculars

Boys State is not military style and few folks consider Scouting to be military either. All of the Service Academies "like" activities like those but its less about the military (or not) and more about the leadership. If you had 4H and did it for years, that would "count" as would a host of...

    Navy-Air Force football game

A/N game has a CONTRACT with CBS and with the stadium. It is the ONLY college game played on that date. The AAC championship game played the week before does not already have a stadium/city contract BUT there is a non-insignificant CONTRACT with different TV network than the following week...

    Medical Coverage - Family Policy

Carrying a commissioned officer on your family plan? why would you do that? They are required to use military medical with zero copay. We did not carry my son on our insurance when he went to USNA as he was on Tricare. If he had left USNA, it would have been considered a qualifying event to...

    BGO Interview Portal Status?

I can tell you that they are not waiting for anything DODMERB because BGOs can't see into the DODMERB and are absolutely barred from any involvement with or use of the Medical side of the application. Many BGOs do not submit immediately but instead take some time to consider/write the...

    Admissions chances (Again)

That is how the governing organization says the program should be run - just rising seniors. I'm not challenging the poster's comment but I'm pretty familiar with a lot of Boys State programs and none of the ones that I work with allow rising Juniors / two time attendees. That said - your...

C/O '26 parents - place to commiserate and share. Roller coaster for the next 3 years!

The really hard part of the 40 minute swim when my class did it was less the drag of the clothes and more the many other people also testing who invariably swam over you, kicked you in the face (or worse) and generally made it very difficult even if the swim itself was within your capability.

    Bad interview!

???? In over 30 yrs, I've probably taken a cup of tea and/or coffee twice and water maybe 3 times. That is all despite many offers. At the last interview that I did, the mom did put a plate of cookies out even after I said no. You may find it funny that the family dog found them and kept...
