My Current Situation with PLC, ROTC

I'm currently varying from 250-270, but I'm seriously struggling on the 3 mile run. Those workouts look great, and I definitely agree, AROTC PT is not cutting it for me; it's only one hour long and 20 minutes of it is through formation and stretching.

My Current Situation with PLC, ROTC

I'm not too enthusiastic about aviation; I would much rather do ground. The NCO told me that I can switch to ground once I complete PLC juniors. My main priority in the PLC route is to become an Officer of Marines. As for the Army, I would really want to be an Armor Officer.

My Current Situation with PLC, ROTC

I can more or less hold financially at UCSB, so if I stuck with PLC, I'd stay at UCSB, I'd just have to pay for room and board, so I'm fine with going PLC, if I can make it through. The scholarships officer says it's "highly likely" that I would get a scholarship if I transferred in the Fall...

My Current Situation with PLC, ROTC

Well, it's been a while since I started a thread. I started out with USNA, and decided that it wasn't for me. I went to UCR for a year, doing AROTC at Claremont McKenna before transferring over to UCSB, and now I have another situation. The cadre here at UCSB tells me that there are NO...

    Campus Scholarships

USC's scholarship officer informed me about this. UCSB has a new scholarship officer (previous officer got me in to UCSB as a sophomore), he's not sure about the situation. The temporary UCSB scholarship officer told me that there will not be any scholarships

    Campus Scholarships

At UCSB, the scholarships officer informed me that there will be NO scholarships available for the class of 2015. I may transfer to USC (not contracted anyway), and the scholarship officer told me that the unit will request for more scholarships.

    Daily AROTC life

Stuff like first aid, land navigation, STX (Squad Training Exercise), EPW, aid/litter, just basically essential knowledge for ROTC and LDAC in the future.

    Daily AROTC life

Personally for me on ROTC days (which is T,R,F) Wake up at 0445. Prepare and drive to CMC from my house (about 17 mi) for PT from 0600-0730. From there drive to UCR for class. On Wednesdays I have MSL class, which is typically an hour long for an MS1, from 0900-1000. I have lab every...

Which would look better for nrotc or afrotc?

On that note, look at a Sea Cadet program as well, that is if you're also interested in the Navy

    NROTC Acceptance

With the Marine Corps NROTC option, you have to look at your PFT score. Have you taken it yet? Try to aim for at LEAST a 250+ to be competitive, along with aiming for leadership positions in those clubs as well as maintaining a good GPA (it could always be better!) and achieving good...

    Declined for NROTC - options

He will need to take twice as many classes the second year if he chooses to hold off one year. Personally, I'd rather be a programmer so I can see if I would like being in the program while not have any obligations

    NROTC Status Update

Has anyone received the dreaded "Selection Status We are sorry, you were not selected for a scholarship. You will receive a letter explaining other options available to you. "? Well, for me it seems like I'll be going down the AROTC road, presumably in UCSB next year. It's all good though, I...

More changes for the new APFT

We have cadets falling out of 5 mile rucks, so they need to work to prepare to pass this, if this becomes part of the PFT, or find another program

More changes for the new APFT

For us, running around the track seems like a test of will rather than endurance  But it is good for keeping pace

More changes for the new APFT

It's not necessarily a bad thing, but for ROTC, the APFT is conducted monthly. Worse is you'll probably lose some non-contracted cadets who aren't motivated enough to put in the extra time. Adding on, since majority of ROTC cadets do not ruck up to 12 miles, we should be doing some extra...

More changes for the new APFT

In my unit, we would only conduct 5 mile rucks but for long ones? Ranger Challenge did it on Saturdays, but that would mean every Cadet would lose a Saturday

More changes for the new APFT

You’ll have to run up to four miles in 36 minutes or less, and do a 12-mile ruck march in four hours or less. The thing with this though is that it would take up a lot of time, that's what the National Guard and Reserve are units saying at least.

    Dilemma

I managed to get a 252 on the APFT today. I don't know if that will make a difference with anything regarding the scholarship but I also got my parents to agree to allow me to do this for at least until Spring FTX

    Dilemma

Was offered a 4 year scholarship last year but went to the Naval Academy instead. I left the Naval Academy and decided to attend a civilian school, was hoping to attend UCSB but it was full, so currently attending UCR
