    Reapplying next year

My son was in this exact position, many moons ago. In short...yes. If you were worthy of a waitlist spot, AND you do well in 4/c like classes in your reapplication year, I think you have a really good shot at getting appointed next round. Fwiw, my son actually re-took the SAT, and started a...

    AIM transportation?

Asking for a friend who is not on SAF. Will there be transportation from PVD for AIM? Her DD got a spot, but no mention is made in the paperwork. Thanks!

DS school has never nominated anyone for Boys State

My son was in the same position. We just contacted a few posts directly. One had a spot for him and offered to split the cost 50/50 with us. Don't worry about the school's lack of involvement.

    Thudgate and Falcon Football time

We will be attending our very first USAFA football game. Even way back in 08-09 when we were far more active on the USCGA forum, I'd lurk here and glean some pretty great pearls of wisdom from Christcorp and company. Will stop by to say hey and put a face to the name!

    Class of 2019 waitlist

It seems like every year there are one or two 11th hour appointments...hang in there. My son was notified on June 6th 2008 that the waitlist had closed and that there was no appointment for him that cycle.

    Class of 2019 waitlist

Official admissions waitlist update email arrived today. Not making it off the CGAS waitlist. Son has already long accepted (happily!) his USAFA appointment, but my heart will always tugged by thoughts of him at CGA and in the Coast Guard like his big brother. Semper Paratus will now be...

    Class of 2019 waitlist

Fingers doubly crossed @johnmac42 . When my oldest was waitlisted the first time, he got notified of non-selection on June 6th. I hope you are not in limbo for that long.

    Class of 2019 waitlist

Good luck, @johnmac42 . My son is also still on the CGAS Waitlist, but has accepted his appointment to USAFA. His dream. My heart was holding out for CGA.

    Mild Childhood Asthma

Can't speak for ROTC, but my oldest was in your shoes with USCGA five years back. Me, being an overprotective mom had his inhaler refilled after his 13th bday...he never used it and was a competitive swimmer. He got the waiver after 2 methocholine challenge tests. Why 2? The first came back...

    CGA Reapply

@Idzak search my posts. My son was a two time applicant to USCGA. He went the CC route. happily, there is no one-size fits all path. Hard work and perseverance and a wee bit if good fortune are the tickets to success. Where you study is less important than how you do in those classes.

    Prep Options

Chocolate chip, please! And btw, you are still not getting it...your attempts at ridiculing adults with years and years of experience casts a very negative shadow on you. Not sure why you feel the need to argue with folks who have helped many on this board. Good luck in whatever it is you...

    Prep Options

@AdamKokes ...as a new poster, I'm going to suggest you take it down a notch. The adults who post here really do know their stuff. While @Physicsguru has a vested interest in promoting his school, he has done so in a very unbiased light, and has pointed out that MMI is far from the only way to...

Class of 2019 First Public Appearance

From the Cadet Handbook you will receive: Flag Ceremony: Traditionally at the end of the fourth week of Swab Summer, the Summer Regiment will travel to nearby Mystic Seaport (a national maritime museum; see http://www.mysticseaport.org/) for a class recognition ceremony. You may observe this...

Does early college hurt or help getting an Appointment?

Keep up the good work @Baseballrecruit. Keep those coaches in the loop and remember that YOU are your own best advocate. Coaches have many, many recruits to track. Make it easy for them by filling out the questionnaires, visiting campus, attending games. The squeaky wheel, and all that. :-)...

Does early college hurt or help getting an Appointment?

A student athlete may have unlimited contact w/ coaches IF it is a) on the college campus and b) via a telephone call YOU make. The coaches cannot initiate contact, prior to a specific date (timelines can be found on NCAA.com, for my kids sport it was July 1 after Jr. year. At that point we'd...

Does early college hurt or help getting an Appointment?

Verbal commitments are common in many sports. Soccer verbals begin as early as 10th grade. Actually heard of a local phenom being "recruited" in the 8 th grade. Of course contact was funneled through the coach and ODP program. But kid yourself not...college coaches have their hooks in kids...
