    Waiver for herninated disc

My son is AFROTC and herniated the same one. He reported it to his detachment commander and there were no repercussions from it. He attended field training, continued as a scholarship cadet and has healed nicely with no surgery. Hopefully your son will have a similar experience. Sent...

    AFROTC Book money/stipend

My son had to pay for his books on his own and then got a deposit into his account about a month after school started. I think his first stipend came late enough that it was a double payment the first time he got it. His tuition has never been paid until almost the end of each semester. Sent...

    Max 5 Graduation 2014

I went to the max 4 graduation, you'll be glad you went! Totally worth the drive. We brought lunch in a cooler and were able to be with our cadet until 1:00 even though they had said 12:00. Sent using the Service Academy Forums® mobile app

    Max 5

Several Cadets at Max 4 were given wrong information and were told that their address was FTU 2 when, in fact, it should have been FTU 4. We mailed everything to our son to FTU 4 and it all made it to him and we did not have his flt information. For Max 5, you should be sending it to FTU 5!

    AFROTC- Max 4 FIELD TRAINING

The cadets were all really happy! You can tell that they were all extremely proud if their accomplishments. After the parade everyone went to an auditorium to an awards ceremony. Each flight announced their distinguished and superior graduates and warrior cadets. The cadets did not know...

    AFROTC- Max 4 FIELD TRAINING

Thanks for the update! We had 2 letters from our son in the mailbox today to his younger brothers. They were very upbeat. He told them about eating MRE's, shooting paintball guns and getting yelled at a lot! Can't wait to see him! Sent using the Service Academy Forums® mobile app

    AFROTC- Max 4 FIELD TRAINING

We got a letter from DS today! Yay! He says it's harder than he had anticipated (not physically but mentally) and that every minute of his day is controlled by all of the little details and procedures that they have to learn. He says it's hot (do they have AC in their sleeping quarters???)...

    AFROTC- Max 4 FIELD TRAINING

My mother (his grandmother) got a letter from him yesterday, dated 7/9. She's terminally ill and I told her that if he only had time to write one person it should be her. He said that he loved it, was having a great time and didn't miss home at all. Then said "just kidding". He said they...

    Field Training Extra Packing list

Thanks, Pima. That's kind of what I was thinking. It would be nice but just seemed like an awful big expense for such a short amount of time.

    Field Training Extra Packing list

We dropped our son off this morning, also. I didn't know about the hugging thing! I wonder if any of the parents on here have gone to the final parade? I'm on the fence so I just wondered what other families did or are doing?

    Decision Made

Speaking from our experience last year, I suggest accepting both. When my son was offered both and AROTC and AFROTC scholarship, we encouraged him to make a decision of one or the other, so that a scholarship could be released to go to someone else. It felt like the right thing to do at the...

    October 15, 2012 AROTC Board

He can accept the scholarship now and turn it down if he's offered an appointment to an academy or another ROTC scholarship later. My son was in that same situation last year and he accepted both ROTC scholarships that were offered and released one when he had all his ducks in a row to make up...
