    ROTC or academy?

Once in the military proper, how are officers from academies viewed compared to those who commissioned through ROTC? i.e. are there preferences for duty stations, promotions, etc.? Specifically interested in Army and Navy/Marines.

    DODMERB time limit

I know that DoDMERB physicals are good for two years. However, last year I reported a food allergy that afflicted me as a child and does not currently. I failed to get a waiver for this reason. Can I waive my old medical and get a new one reflecting my mistake correction from last year?

    College to USNA

Just out of curiousity, is there any mid on this forum that did a year or two of college before transferring to USNA as a plebe? I'd really like to hear from you and get some insight into the situation.

    MSU to USNA

I'm a previous candidate to USNA. I did well, got my nominations, but was turned down at the last step (I suspect medical, but no specific reason was given). Either way, I'm now a political science major at Michigan State and an Army cadet there. I'm originally from CA-44th district, though...

    AROTC to USNA

I'm a previous candidate for USNA. I got my congressional nomination and everythinbg, but was turned down at the last step. I suspect my medical had something to do with, but I'm really not to sure. Either way, I've enrolled at Michigan State University. We don't have an NROTC unit, though...

    Army ROTC

I'm enrolling in optional Army ROTC courses at Michigan State this fall, starting without a contract. I'd hoped to go Marine but MSU does not have a Navy unit. Does anyone know if there is a precednt for or a possibility of signing a service obligation with my Army ROTC battalion and being...

    Several curiosities

Two things- 1. USNA or NROTC at four-year civilian university? Which is better/more enjoyable/etc.? (Input from midshipmen greatly valued here!) 2. How is the professional training at West Point compared to USNA? I know both are SA's, but it seems that USMA has a lot more hands-on military...

    CA 44th District

Just a curiousity- any idea how competitive the C 44th district (Calvert) is for noms to USNA ONLY? Same question for the Senators.

    Personal Statement

I was hoping that I might post my first-draft personal statement for some feedback before my BGO interview. If you're willing to read and offer any comment, good or bad, just say so and I will put the statement up. Thank you so much!

    DoDMERB site error

I'm trying to register my candidacy (USNA) with the DoDMERB site. However, every time I type my info into the registration bars, I'm told that my application hasn't been added to the DoDMERB site. Do I have to finish every other part of my USNA application first, or is it just a site issue?

    CA nominations

As you may know, California is one of the most liberal states in the nation. Luckily, I live in a Republican district. The representative (Calvert) has made it pretty fair, but I'm worried about the senators (Feinstein/Boxer) and VP Biden. Any hints?

    NROTC Marine odds, anyone?

I've submitted my NROTC Marine Corps option application for 1. Cornell, 2. Northwestern, 3. UCLA, 4. Boston, 5. George Washington. I have about a 4.2 weighted GPA, 2170 SAT, a couple of sports and school clubs, and six years of IB classes (full Diploma candidate). I was just wondering what my...

    Hello!

I'm creating an account in this form three days before the start of my senior year in high school. I'm hoping for an NROTC (MCO) scholarship or USNA appointment, graduating as a Marine. I'm glad this forum is arround (most of my classmates think I'm insane) and look forward to the service!
