    Company Assignment

I just received my platoon/company assignment in the mail. Apparently, the rumors that 2016 would be the first class to report without knowing its company assignments in advance were inaccurate.

    Expert pistol/rifle proficiency

How difficult is it to earn expert pistol and rifle proficiency during Plebe summer? While I was a drag last year, my host said "it's easy" but I feel like it has to be somewhat difficult or else everyone would achieve expert. I've been to the firing range a few times and can wield a 9mm and...

    Tennis shoes

I visited a running shoe specialist in my area (Asheville, NC) who highly recommended the New Balance 993 for running. (The specialist also recommended a flashy blue/yellow/red shoe, which I had to politely decline.) The 993s are a bit pricy at $140, but I have never felt better after...

    USNA Admission - Eye Surgery

I had the exact same surgery at age 5. I listed it on my medical forms in the "surgery" section and had no problems.

    Reporting Late to I-Day

I agree; it will be interesting to see how things play out. I know of a handful of other athletes that have already qualified for various team trials who will be reporting late, too. In fact, one mid reported for I-Day and flew to compete immediately after the oath of office. They make some...

    Classes

A computer or business class would be an excellent idea. From what I learned during the admission process, useful technical knowledge is highly regarded. Whatever you do, DO NOT take take a class because it's "easy." Chances are, the admissions board will know that too.

    Reporting Late to I-Day

US Olympic Swimming Trials run through the 28th. I'm being recruited for swimming so the coaches asked for permission to allow me to compete and report late.

Color Blindness -- Careers in Navy?

Be wary Just be mindful of the fact that with USNA, you already possess a waiver, therefore if any difficulties arise in the eye test on I-Day, you have your waiver to show for it. USMA doesn't prevent admission due to color blindness, but you never know what they'll say when you fail the...

    Reporting Late to I-Day

I have already been approved to report late for I-Day 2012. (I will be reporting June 29th mid-afternoon...40 hours late.) What should I expect on arrival? For example, will I still go through the stations to receive uniform/shoes/haircut? Room assignment? Medical exams? I'm sure I will get...

    Class of 2016

Greetings! This year, I am a high school senior and am very interested in USNA and USAFA. For a little over a year, I have been speaking with the swimming coaches at both schools, who have told me that they have "blue-chipped" me as an athlete (guaranteed admission if qualified in all other...
