Intelligence Officer, Air Force or Army

Hi 2020 Intel, I haven't specifically heard of that major. I know nick4060 and I are products of ROTC so not sure too much of what that academy program is like. It certainly sounds very geared toward the Intelligence field though. Analysis and problem solving are definitively huge factors...

Intelligence Officer, Air Force or Army

Hi 2020Intel, Like AVT, I also was a Geospatial Science major (GIS) and I am an AF Intel officer. Geospatial Science is pretty much using mapping systems, statistics, and remote sensing to problem solve. I really like my major and intend to get my Graduate degree in it as well! I've been in...

AF introduces Total Force Commissioning Process

I am pretty sure they are letting you just walk away. This same form of Voluntary Separation Program in AFROTC was introduced this past January for those graduating in Spring 2014. You could just walk away with 4 years of scholarship and stipend money if you really wanted to.

While awaiting EA cut off numbes

Just remember, there are a lot of hard working people for those government contracts and under those companies payroll systems. Not all of it is being dumped in the furnace of waste.

    AFROTC EA due date

If you do not get selected, "Special Students" do not have to attend LLAB but must attend the Air Class to obtain course credit.

    AFROTC Majors

I was in the same boat with one of my friends. We both went for the Intel career field. I was able to list 30+ information science credits, and with an addition of maybe 50+ science, math, and technology courses. My friend on the other hand is in the liberal arts college with far better...

    AFROTC Majors

A little contrary to what Pima said, Academic major can matter greatly in terms of what non-rated job you want when you are a 400 level cadet going for the non-rated board. During your 400 year, you will fill out the AFROTC form 53. Here you will list your major, test scores, GPA, and most...

    RPA to Pilot

Just remember you can still reject the slot if you really do not want it and then go for a non-rated categorization your 400 year (they will not remove you from ROTC and a chance at commissioning). Then again, if you do so, you cannot apply to get a rated categorization again in your career...

NO AFROTC ICSP or 2014 Field Training???

From what I could see all FTP (Tech and Non-Tech) were given the form at LAB

ROTC cadets, recent graduates offered release from service commitments

oops, sorry Pima! If anyone wants to read the full article type: "Leaders push voluntary exits to trim force" into Google not sure why the embedded link does not work!

ROTC cadets, recent graduates offered release from service commitments

Here is a good article on the AF times (Dec. 16, 2013). Does not necessarily pertain to AFROTC but still interesting to see what is going on in a broader perspective. http://www.airforcetimes.com/article/20131216/CAREERS/312160016/Leaders-push-voluntary-exits-trim-force-by-1-900 I did find...

ROTC cadets, recent graduates offered release from service commitments

I'd say it's affecting everyone equally: http://www.army.mil/article/116900/ As far as civilians taking up some non-rated jobs in the future, not really too sure on that as they were the first to get cut during the sequestration and are getting cut for FY'14 as well. *Also the 25k for the Air...

ROTC cadets, recent graduates offered release from service commitments

I think that these stats are the latest count as of 30 September 2013 for total force: 326,775 Active Duty 64,799 Officers 261,976 Enlisted Source: http://www.afpc.af.mil/library/airforcepersonneldemographics.asp so a little more like 7.5% reduction in total force

AFROTC PFA disagreement with failure notice

I would for sure fight the ruling/scoring of your son's PFA. They should be making corrections as the cadet attempts his/her push ups. If the cadet fails proper form, the spotter should be saying something like "1,2,3,4,5....5....5 lower at 90 degrees 6,7,8" during the count. Perfectly...

ROTC cadets, recent graduates offered release from service commitments

Wow, thanks for that Academy AFSC list Pima! I hope that they release the AFROTC AFSC list soon. As for my detachment, it seemed a lot got their 1st or 2nd choice (only a few 3rd).

ROTC cadets, recent graduates offered release from service commitments

Does anyone have figures for AFSC numbers, such as below? Do they typically release these after non-rated careers come out? I dug this out from my notes below that someone had posted awhile back: 2012 FY '12 Commissioning AFSC Requirements 13DXA Combat Rescue 7 13DXB Special Tactics 8...

ROTC cadets, recent graduates offered release from service commitments

Yes it is. On the other hand...the class of 2014 in many respects was the one who weeded itself out. I no longer have the selection stats but much fewer cadets applied for SFT than of the years of 55% selection (class of '12 and '13)

ROTC cadets, recent graduates offered release from service commitments

I am pretty sure there are closer to 2,300 in the class of 2014 based on Field Training numbers. Some of those might no longer be in ROTC or might intend to graduate in FY '15. Then again you need to keep in mind that several might be the 62 series or rated and not eligible "currently" for the...

ROTC cadets, recent graduates offered release from service commitments

That is the number that I heard too. Roughly 500 slots to be reduced, ~200 from Inactive Ready Reserves and ~300 from ROTC. I did not hear about the EA slots being reduced but it had been asked about. EA reduction is just speculation for now but highly probable in my opinion. I also heard...
