AROTC Scholarship and Naval Academy Appointment

I actually ended up at USNA so it is pretty disappointing that I do not know the answer to my friends question isn't it? haha. And yes I was a recruited athlete to three ivy leagues last year as well as to the service academies and a few other no name civilian schools. Interestingly I chose not...

AROTC Scholarship and Naval Academy Appointment

Let's say he spoke with his cadre and they informed him that this contract would be binding and would lawfully force him to withdraw his application to the Naval Academy. Would this scholarship be too much to turn down? Is it not worth taking another stab at the Naval Academy? I feel as though...

AROTC Scholarship and Naval Academy Appointment

Okay so here is the deal, A friend of mine is a freshmen student at a University and he is a non-contracted cadet in the Army ROTC program. He is also an applicant to the Naval Academy. After being denied last year, he decided he would seek to acquire his dream of receiving an appointment for...

    Still Waiting? What's your info?

I have applied to all three of the major service academies, (USAFA, USNA, and USMA). I have been offered appointments to USMA and USNA, but am waiting for my number 1 choice, that being USAFA. Today I was offered admission to UPENN, Cornell, and Dartmouth College. Kinda shows that everywhere is...

    Nomination Question

One of my buddies from my High School got his appointment recently and we both had a nomination from the same congressman. Since he got the appointment on the congressman's slate does this mean my chances are dead? Or do I still have a chance on the National Wait List? Thank you.

    Division 1 Athletes

Thanks for the info, but what if an athlete is blue chipped and basically committed to playing a specific sport? Doesn't that person HAVE to participate in that sport, or they will be sent home?

    Division 1 Athletes

Another question I had was how much harder is it to balance all of the commitments, (ie: academics, military training etc...), when playing a Division one sport. One major concern I have is doing so effectively. As the military is the ultimate focus, I would feel that a lot of energy towards the...

    Area of study?

Wow thanks a lot for the thinking process done there. It really helps me to organize my thoughts. I guess I wont really know if I want to make the military a 20+ year career until I experience it first hand. I may love it, I may not love it, or I may fall somewhere in the middle.

    Area of study?

Thank you both for the informative responses. I am assuming I will figure it out as I am introduced to the academy lifestyle, but now I can look forward to the majors night. Being a recruited athlete I also assume that may affect which path I choose. But thank you for the info!

    Area of study?

I am just curious about choosing the best academic pathway at USAFA. There is just so much to choose from and so many different options. It all seems so interesting. Is there a "better" path to take, or a path that makes more sense than another? The best major to focus on?

    Massachusetts Nominations

I received a nomination to two service academies from Scott Brown and my Congressman of my district, but nothing from Kerry. Kinda confusing to me, but it is what it is. Best of luck to all of you.

    Torn ACL waiver?

I was just cleared today by both USNA and USAFA for an ACL injury that I had reconstruction surgery on back on May 10, 2011. It can be done, just gotta keep your head up and enjoy the wait
