Army ROTC v.s. Air Force ROTC

Unless things have changed, they only count math and verbal SAT scores, not writing. My guess is you scored somewhere in the 1100's on your SATs which is pretty low.

AF introduces Total Force Commissioning Process

He started his second year, transferred in to his new school. At the time there were over 30 kids in his class. This spring 13 commissioned.

AF introduces Total Force Commissioning Process

My son was in the class of 2014, he just graduated. So he went to SFT in 2012. His year had the extremely high % of acceptance, the year before, 2011 had a much lower acceptance rate. That being said, I am pretty sure the numbers of actual kids going to SFT were about the same. His class had...

Pima, some must commission later on in the year right?

    AFROTC EAD changes

Just to prepare you all as you get ready for military service. He just got new orders again, and now he is supposed to head out on June 30th. I am figuring it would be tough for them to move it again, but I guess I wouldn't be surprised. Just as an FYI, he was also contacted today by his...

    AFROTC EAD changes

Well not Hawaii, he is going to Pederson AFB in Colorado. He is in the procurement side. He is supposed to work with both the USAF and contractors developing new systems. He is excited about it.

    AFROTC EAD changes

Thanks Pima! I believe he is reporting directly to the base he will be stationed at, not a school, so this is probably it.

    AFROTC EAD changes

My son graduates next week. His original EAD was in October. Today he was notified it had been changed to July 4th. I was wondering if this is likely to be his last change, or if I shouldn't be surprised if it changes again before he heads out. Thanks!

    Religious services at Field Training?

At basic training you either went to service or did more training, not necessarily the fun kind, so all the kids went. I never asked my son about his experiences at FT, but he is religious anyways. (Step son went enlisted USAF, other son is a senior in ROTC) I will say that as a parent, we...

    AFROTC EA due date

I would assume that rated is rated and non rated is non rated, regardless of whether they are tech or non-tech.

    AFROTC EA due date

Just to clarify things a little bit. The 45% to 55% was from three years ago. Two years ago was the first year they cut numbers before they announced FT selection and the acceptance rate ended up being around 90% give or take. That was my son's class. I didn't really follow it last year, but...

    AFROTC EA due date

Why would BYU graduation force the USAF to do anything?

    AFROTC EA due date

We went through this all last year too. They will come out when they come out, and we will have no idea at all how many slots there will be until they actually come out. All the rest is just guessing.

    Credit Hours for ROTC Students

College is often a huge transition for kids from high school. Lots of time they have done really well in high school without being forced to develop good study habits. In college you are taking classes with all the kids that did well in high school, you are forced to either develop those study...

    Credit Hours for ROTC Students

It is an awful lot easier to take more credits next semester, than to do poorly or fail out this semester. I assume all the ROTC's are the same in that your GPA plays a really big part of your rankings and such with your detachment. Until your feet are wet, I would certainly be conservative...

    AFROTC EA/SFT Selection Stats

There are books you can buy to help you study for the AFOQT's. I do think they end up being more general knowledge, other than the pilot stuff though. I am not sure, but I thought they just looked at verbal and math on the SAT's, not the writing component. From what my son has told me, and...

    e i EA o

I guess this is slightly better than last year, when the waiting cadets started saying they were going to leave ROTC if they didn't hear soon. Very very slightly.

Are there downfalls for minorities in the military? especially the army

#1 I don't know what this pyramid crap you are talking about is. #2 I have no idea why you think it is fact. In 2011, 77% of the officers in the military were Caucasian, 9.5% were black or African American. In 2009 62.3% of college students were Caucasian, and 14.3% were Black or...
