    The Acronym List

Thanks, Kinnem :thumb:. Is CULP something Marines would do or is it another branch?

    Minor Injury during PT

She is contracted through the Marines- I am not sure if they handle things differently or if each branch is under the same umbrella when it comes to injuries. We did end up using our insurance, so I guess I am looking at asking about reimbursement. I have been working very hard at not being a...

    Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program

TASS My DD has both the TASS and the NROTC-MO. You can use both at the same time, but there does seem to be some confusion about the TASS since it is a relatively new scholarship established by the Texas Legislature. Definitely call your local congressman and representative to see if they have...

    NROTC-MO Scholarship

2nd Board NROTC-MO My DD found out she had been awarded her scholarship at the second board by a phone call from the recruiting officer in our area. She got the call in mid to late April. If I remember correctly, the cut off date for the 2nd board is January 31. Then we received a letter...

    Minor Injury during PT

Well, I guess that is why those charges sat on her account for a few months. What about if she gets injured during OCS or something of that nature? Is there ever a case when we are not personally responsible for her medical costs?

    DD Got THE call !

Congrats to all of you! Great news! I was the same way when we found out our DD had gotten the NROTC-MO - I found myself telling anyone and everyone until she finally pulled me aside and said I had to stop:rolleyes:

    Minor Injury during PT

Not sure if this question is in the right thread- please move if need be. In October, my DD tripped during a scheduled early am run with her other contracted Marine buddies and MECEPs. She banged her knee pretty good. They made her go to the clinic on campus. Good news = no real injury other...

    NROTC-MO Scholarship

I know EXACTLY how you are feeling right now! My DD was not awarded the scholarship at the first board and it was a tough pill to swallow. I share this on the off chance your DS does not get it this first round. My DD was awarded the full 4 year scholarship to her first choice school (Texas A&M)...

    NROTC-MO Scholarship

TASS Darrowboat- You can definitely use both at the same time (we are doing so right now)! I think this is the misinformation that keeps the TASS from being used as often as it should be. People think they have to choose one or the other- not true. It does have specific requirements that must...

    NROTC-MO Scholarship

Texas Armed Services Scholarship Darrowboat- Just wanted to make sure you had checked into the TASS. It is a $10,000/year schoalrship for college students in Texas who will graduate then go on to serve in the military. The congressmen in your district are allowed to give one a year. You just...

    Challenge for Female Marines

In Total Agreement with Hurricane12 I read the article in the WSJ the day it came out and was very interested as my DD is on the NROTC-MO scholarship currently. I spoke to her about the points made in the article and her thoughts were in almost exact alignment with Hurricane12. In particular...

VMI Army ROTC Challenged to Train More Cadets

Most commisioned officers? The following quote in the article is attributed to Col. Bill Wanovich-Commanding Officer of VMI ROTC: “In spite of the huge numbers, we continue to train them [the cadets] well and they continue to perform well,” said Wanovich, “and we will commission more kids...

    Texas A&M admissions

Those are good units (actually, I think they are all good!), but my DD is not in those. You'll have a good sense which unit is for you by the end of those 2 visits. Smart move on your part.

    Texas A&M

In order to be in the ROTC @ Texas A&M, you have to be admitted by the university first, then you apply for ROTC. So you need to get your grades up and/or knock the SAT/ACT out of the park (you can do it!:thumb:)The good news is, if you are admitted from out of state and join the Corps of...

    Texas A&M admissions

Getting into A&M ClickClack- I think we have talked before and I'm pretty sure you are from Texas. Here is what the admissions page from Texas A&M says about automatic admission for Texas residents outside the top 10%. Academic Admits Applicants qualify for automatic academic...
