    DD214 question

Kinda weird question, but do former contracted AROTC cadets get a DD214? After I left gave up my scholarship and left ROTC to transfer to a cheaper school with the major I wanted (I thought), I enlisted in the Texas State Guard. I've been told that if possible, I need to get a DD214 for my...

    Texas A&M Corp for non-ROTC

Actually, the reverse is true in my experience. I received $14.5K/year in academic scholarships from the university alone.

    Texas A&M Culture

Some of the best people I know are or were in the Corps, but they're the minority by far. Have you lived with sixty cadets for sixteen weeks at a time? My outfit chaplain cursed constantly, my roommate was a porn addict... Perhaps I joined a bad outfit (I'm certain I did), or perhaps only Army...

    Honor Code=Hypocrisy

Precisely. Unfortunately, there are as many ideas of morality as there are people. One of the most despicable officers I've ever known was basically adored by my peers at TAMU. Sadly, the general belief is that honor codes are admirable ideals, but the only time someone cares if you lie...

    Texas A&M Culture

I hated the Corps culture at A&M. Immaturity and immorality are rampant throughout, although that's certainly not to say everyone in the Corps is bad. From my experiences, I'd only recommend attending A&M if you are dead set on joining the military and are not attending a service academy for...

Correct, that's why I said "probably".

    Never give up hope!

Sounds exactly like my case. I was told yesterday morning I'd know whether or not I was granted a waiver by Friday, and my status was updated to "waiver granted" that afternoon. If you've already got a waiver for AFROTC, you'll probably get one for Army. A spirometry test is a spirometry test...

    Never give up hope!

After almost ten months to the day, my DoDMERB ordeal is finally over. Army ROTC gave me a medical waiver.

I think so, but I'm not absolutely certain.

    One quick question...

Yes, I received both an Army and a Navy 4-year scholarship. I accepted the Army one, so most of my research has been for AROTC. You might contact Navy LT Heru Mansell [hmansell(at)navy(dot)tamu(dot)com] for NROTC questions. He might put you in touch with some current SEAL Platoon members as well.

    Tattoo in ROTC

I'm simply shocked to learn there may be ways of not spending money that aren't cheap.:yllol:

Best and worst first duty assignments?

I can't believe I didn't notice the word "Banned" under the OP's name until page 13. Must pay closer attention . . . . If I'm ever rude and/or disrespectful, please do me a favor and ban me immediately.

When you receive your AROTC letter, post results here

My letter just came in. 4-year scholarship to #1 choice, no other choices listed. Fine with me. Go Army! :thumb:

    December NROTC Board

Thanks everyone! That'd be neat. I'm still hoping to get an AROTC scholarship to A&M, so it's possible your son and I could be in the same unit. Thanks! What are the requirements for the Navy fitness test? Might as well get ready for it now so I don't have to worry about it later. I...

    Service-connected nominations?

No, I've never been in JROTC. That's why it's confusing. I've spoken to my BGO and he can't figure it out either. I'll email Admissions tonight and see what they say.
