    **A thread for the Girls**

I have very thick, bi-racial hair and I never had a problem with mold. My advice would be to put whatever you plan to use, I used conditioner and gel, in your hair at night, and then sleep with it down, this allows it to relax and dry, but also controls frizz and flyaways. You quickly become...

    **A thread for the Girls**

I had two nike pros that I wore in basic, a white and a black. To be honest I did end up wearing them more than the other cheaper ones I brought because I liked them better. Goodwill is hard on them, but not terribly, I still wear them. I did have cheap ones that I wore a lot in Jacks...

    Cadre Taking Questions

Absolutely, it becomes a habit in no time. If you have any other specific questions about being a girl in basic or at USAFA in general feel free to ask me!

    Cadre Taking Questions

That decision is made early-on on I-day, when the males are getting their hair cut for the first time. It's not too stressful by itself, the only people who I know got their hair cut either asked for it, or it physically could not be put into regs, (3 inch bulk all around). The female cadre...

    Preparing for the CFA

This is probably the best advice you can get. If you ask 100 different people you'll get 100 different answers about how best to get in better shape. The most important thing is to get out there and DO it, pick a plan and stick with it--you'll really benefit in the long run!

    2014 BCT Packing List

Less is more... I have the thread saved on my profile: http://www.serviceacademyforums.com/showthread.php?t=6666 If any girls have specific questions I can answer them!

    Stipend

I agree. The worst paycheck I got was just over $200 and the best was December I believe and was a little over $400. Buying from the bookstore really hurts for the first month or two and then you'll be buying things throughout the year which will cause smaller paychecks

    Two Months

I've heard that they cut out many of the various briefings we had, and that some of that is condensed into the week of military training after Acceptance day and before classes start. Almost all of this is still speculation at this point though.

    Summer Airmanship Programs

There are two different space airmanship programs, one is RPAs/Space for the full three week period and is considered your airmanship program for the summer, the other I believe is just space and runs in conjunction with jump, because jump doesn't take up the whole three weeks. When they first...

    Failing Final 6 weeks

The Academy will just see your semester grade, they won't see the individual grades or weeks or anything like that. As long as you pass the class you're not going to have a problem! That's not saying don't try, but also don't stress too much--enjoy your last few weeks!

    Visiting the Academy

Yep. Be prepared for any kind of weather and wear a relatively nice shirt and you'll be fine

    2014 Summer Seminar

Don't be discouraged Something that gets brought up every year.... Acceptance into summer seminar DOES NOT indicate that you will or will not be appointed to the Academy itself. SS functions in part as a recruitment tool to create interest and encourage people to apply and seriously consider...

    2015 Rated slots

There is a designation made by DoDMERB before you even report to I-Day. I believe most individuals are "Pilot Qualified" by DoDMERB but on every official document it notes that this does NOT guarantee that you will truly be pilot qualified. The battery of tests still occurs junior year, I...

    Girls State or NASS?

GS! I had the same conflict a few years ago, except it was between GS and NASS. I talked to a few cadets as well as some ALOs and their general consensus was that Girls State would be the better opportunity. Fortunately I was able to attend USAFASS, which allowed me to compare the two...

Go for Early Action, or Redo CFA?

The average male CFA mile time is 6:36 (http://academyadmissions.com/admissions/the-application-process/fitness-assessment/), so 7:40 could be improved, but I would not consider it failing

Go for Early Action, or Redo CFA?

As far as I know they don't publish pass/fail numbers for the CFA, you just have to compare the averages in past years to see where you stand.

Go for Early Action, or Redo CFA?

Do a search for early action on this thread- you'll find quite a few different opinions. My advice is to hold off on EA and ensure that your application is as good as you can possibly make it before submitting it. The trend in past years and the consensus of most of the posters on this board is...

Extremely bad second semester GPA junior year.

I'm more familiar with the ACT, but I wouldn't say that your scores are terrible, they seem respectable to me. For writing I was able to increase my ACT writing from 7/12 to 11/12 by simply writing. A LOT. Practice with the time requirement until you are more comfortable with it. Just my $0.02...
