USAFA Appointment List Class of 2025

And, that you make sure, before you post "the list" that you take the time to reconcile it, taking care, so no one is knocked off. Tennesseans don't like being knocked off, LOL. Especially those who previously tackled this list without AM coffee! Next brave soul, please add: 140...

Ipad at VTCC New Cadet Week

After NCW comes RED phase which lasts about mid semester. Limited access during this period. No TV, doors are kept open, tight schedules for study/quiet times, heavily supervised, social media is discouraged and any time away has to be requested. Pads will be treated like phones and laptops.

    VTCC New Cadet Kit

Buy the kit, wife and I tried Walmart vs Amazon and quickly found it painful, costing just as much. "Hat plastic" is well hidden in the main bookstore, we had a blast chasing that down for our other son. Hold on to your hats, HELL WEEK approacheth! Let's go Hokies!

Working while in the VT Corps of Cadets?

As a non-SMC AROTC alum, versus what my DS goes through at VTCC, it's apples and oranges. Here's your first training video: Best of luck, see you TWO WEEKS!

How ROTC Process Works Without Scholarship

ecarr, keep in mind, if you do attend the CC, you'll still have to take the first two years of any ROTC program. As mentioned above, it's a preview, likely PE or elective credit and you get to meet like-minded folks in your class. We had students in my freshman class who just wanted the...

    Paramedicine and AROTC?

Agreed, but I'm not a "other student" I actually obtained my EMT certification, concurrently while in a pre-Med program. Reasoning for my "forget it" above. If your son REALLY wants to be a paramedic, the Army officer route is probably not ideal. Paramedics in the military are...

    Paramedicine and AROTC?

Send the link describing major, courses, etc. If it's pre-Med, there is a chance (Chemistry). If it's leading to certification as a Paramedic, forget it.

Not to mention the "goodies" and networking with new friends. You'll have a BLAST, my son, looking back on it, tells me it "sealed the deal!"

    Tell me about Southwest...

We have always found SWA to be very helpful in near miss/fluid situations - call as early as possible. Yes, telling them you have a MID does make a difference, sometimes I think this is more of who you're talking with, and BWI airport is a very friendly atmosphere as well. Also, once they...

Best time/ Any good dates to visit?

+1 Dr. Mom. It's a holiday weekend, so I doubt many will be around to tour/talk. I'd sign up for the "Spend the night" option. My DS raved about it and sold him on being a Hokie that night. Just in that short time you get to live the life so to speak. If you or your parents have...

    Question #4............ Long

Thank you for posting, had a few laughs, as I have a 1/C, DS at Navy and most of this is so true as well. I really believe a lot of this is individual, but is amazing to see how they change, even from under/upperclassmen. The summer tours also seem to generate a confidence boost, especially...
