    waiver for depression

I had to deal with this after I was accepted. I was going through some really rough times when i was in civilian college but it was nothing chronic, just a really bad semester. I went to see a psychiatrist or psychologist (can't remember, was awhile ago) and they put me on Zoloft for a while...

    Color Guard

Don't know about Texas A&M, but if you want to do Color Guard at the Academy, you have to join Honor Guard. It's not a sport, but they always have one during a parade or formation.

    USAFA Drill Team?

i agree. how can you possibly say something like that without listing reasons? also since you're a freshmen, how do you really know what's going on in Honor Guard if you're not even on that team and haven't interacted with them?

    Air Force Academy Pilots

I actually got PRK last month. If the eye surgeon determines your eyes are a good candidate for PRK or LASIK and you plan on going for a rated slot, then you will receive it Junior year. They need a while to evaluate your eyes after the surgery to determine if they're pilot qualified.

    Air Force Academy Pilots

My class has about 520 slots sets aside from them, which basically means anyone who wants one will get one. You'll be surprised as to the number of cadets who actually DO NOT want to fly and want to do something else.

    Stats check - esp. CFA

at first i was a little shocked by your numbers but that was because i thought you were a male candidate. push ups are pretty good. sit ups though, you really need to try to max it to 95 within two minutes, it's really doable and it just takes practice. 7:46 mile isn't terrible, but it's...

Specifications for 2015 Class Computers AND Email Addresses

    Utility of a Nook/Kindall/iPad?

do keep in mind that you can only use the Academy's wi-fi (which is horribly slow) on your laptop and not on any other device

    Computers & AFA

You won't know until you get them. Someone last year found a government order invoice online somehow that listed what we would be receiving and it was correct. Most likely it will be a Fujitsu tablet as well This is what we have...

    Who is still waiting?

My AAOC who works in the admissions office told my squad that all of the appointments for 2015 had been sent out.... Don't really know how to take that (maybe I misheard him) especially since that would be a lot different than how they've done appointments in the past, but he did say that 2015...

    BFE (Big Fat Envelope) Question

Yea, they're all via USPS. I don't think the Academy would be able to afford sending all of them through UPS or FedEx. Also yes to the pictures...there should be at least, I'm assuming they purchase these in bulk...

    BFE (Big Fat Envelope) Question

It'll be a big white USAFA envelope with pictures and worlds like Offer of Appointment Enclosed

    Medical Disqualification

I think it's odd that DoDMERB is disqualifying you solely on your vision...but w/e. My vision is probably a lot worse than yours and I didn't get a single notice about it. I also have astigmatism.

    Cadet Life questions?

Yea the whole point of study abroad is not to have fun, although you can, should, and will. It is to take classes (especially major) over at another university or foreign service academy while immersing yourself in the culture.

    Cadet Life questions?

Best part of study abroad is that it's free and you are getting paid while you go. Something you can't say happens at any other college.

    Cadet Life questions?

It's also important to note that a lot of things are "squad. dependent". What squadron you're in truly does determine how bad or lax your freshmen year will be. In terms of rooms, the rooms are dorm rooms albeit dorm rooms as well as most of the campus was built in the 50's. One thing that...
