Any rumors on Cadet BRANCHING timeframe?

I am an MSIV in a 7th Brigade School (AROTC). We were originally supposed to have accessions on 13NOV, but it was delayed to tomorrow. Our PMS has told us that he will have the results tomorrow morning and we should know our component/branch by noon. Not sure if this timeline applies to other...

    End of the AROTC FTX

Good point. My guess is they will ease into the transition and keep FTX for this next group of MSIIIs as well as having the camp for the new MSIs/IIs. Nothing in the Army, besides its Soldiers, moves very fast.

    End of the AROTC FTX

 In reality I think it will be good to have all Cadets on the same, even playing field. My only worry is that standards will suffer in the process.

    End of the AROTC FTX

Just had this confirmed by one of my classmates at camp. He said - instead - there will be an LTC-esque camp between MS1 and MS2 year for ALL Cadets. It'll make my job in the S3 office easier next semester if this takes effect, but not sure how I feel about the change (not that that...

    ROTC and Concealed Carry Training

Just an update for all interested: I was approved for a conceal carry by Ohio via providing my DA Form 4 (as I said above, you can download it in a few minutes on hrc.army.mil). They were confused at first because they are used to seeing a DD 214, but they called to confirm and said that the...

    ROTC and Concealed Carry Training

Very, very sound advice. I have been careful to review all of the laws for Ohio and luckily have a great PMS who was able to explain the laws to me before I left campus this year. That's the last thing a Cadet needs. Thank you! And for those wondering: As a Cadet, you can download your Form 4...

    ROTC and Concealed Carry Training

Thanks to you both for the information! I will snag a copy of my Form 4 and go see what the office says. :thumb:

    ROTC and Concealed Carry Training

Hello, all! Contracted MSIII here. I am looking toward obtaining a concealed carry license in my state (Ohio) and under Ohio CCW laws, the process of getting a license can be expedited if one has: It is my understanding that AROTC Cadets are technically in the reserve component of the US...

Commissioning into NG from ROTC on Scholarship

Commissioning into NG from ROTC on Scholarship

Thanks, Aglahad! I will talk to my cadre to find out about who is said liaison officer. We're a small program with 5 cadre members and three civilian staff so if one of them plays the part, it shouldn't be too hard to find out.

Commissioning into NG from ROTC on Scholarship

I am an MSIII on a 4-Year AROTC scholarship hoping to branch into my state's National Guard as a Signal Officer for 8+ years. I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to explain the process of selecting a slot/unit for the NG from ROTC. My evaluator, an MSIV, explained that there are...

    I've heard this recently....

We took a survey for Cadet Command regarding such a training event and whether we thought it would deter new cadets/prospects and if it would have impacted our decision to contract, etc. I'm not clear on the details other than what you have said, but I do know that Cadet Command definitely has...

Wearing ROTC uniform to a military funeral?

Usually if you talk to your chain of command/cadre they will have no problem with it (of course it depends on how lax or strict they are). I asked for permission to wear my ACUs to a military parade in my hometown and the cadre were overjoyed to have me represent the program there; a military...

No pay for AROTC in October....

Seeing it here in Ohio too. Some of our National Guard SMP cadets didn't get paid for drill either. Now they're talking about Ranger Challenge and Field Training getting axed if Congress doesn't get their act together soon. Just been a big ol' disappointment all around.

How will a government shutdown affect ROTC?

Thanks for bringing this up, Jcleppe. I don't want to go off of OP's original topic, but I keep hearing these ominous whispers of "Just wait until the debt ceiling debate comes" among fellow cadets, cadre, and active family and friends. I've heard it will make sequestration cuts worse, but not...

How will a government shutdown affect ROTC?

Update from Ohio Hey all, Ohio AROTC here. Been hearing a lot of effects on this forum and from my buddies in other states and thought I'd share an update on what effects our program has seen: - Our finance and recruiting guys are still furloughed but may come back to work this week. Not...

FYI To All of Those w/ Stipend Errors...

If you/your cadet had trouble last month with getting paid only a fraction of the stipend or you/he/she did not receive a stipend for May 1st, Cadet Command is still working out some kinks from the error from last month (April) and will pay these missed stipends in a few weeks. This is coming...

Has the ROTC stipend process changed for anyone else?

UPDATE: Yes as stated above, it looks like it was some glitch that only affected the MSIIs for some schools. Our finance man contacted Cadet Command this morning who said they are unsure of what caused the glitch but are working on fixing it right away. Thanks everyone!
