    NROTC scholarship notification

Congrats. DS is an AROTC cadet at Oregon State and has many friends in NROTC there, since many of the first year ROTC cadets/midshipman live on the same floor in the same dorm there (Finley Hall- 7th floor). Yes, a far choice for you, but OSU is a great campus with a strong ROTC presence there...

Showing up on R Day with no Appointment

Agree with all the posters, and the likelihood of success is virtually zero. But, on the other hand, for a very aspiring young future cadet (academy or ROTC), what have they got to lose? If anything, it shows pure determination, dedication, loyalty and fortitude; highly coveted attributes USMA...

    3-Year Scholarship Question

Agree. DS was recently upgraded to a 3.5 year, and contracted. He scored well on his APFT and his grades were good. Also, the cadre ranked the MSI's based on peer reviews and the above factors, which seemed to influence the upgrade decisions as well.

Looking at Class of 2017 stats

Wow! Just reading over these stats makes me even more proud of my DS for how close he came to being admitted last year. Those who were 3Q'd, nominated, but not selected are a small group in their own right (only 816 males- just 6% of those who applied). His scores and ranking are all within...

    There you go! Well done.

    Army ROTC Scholarship PMS Interview

All of the previous posts are spot on about making sure you interview with your top school. Last year, my DS interviewed with his 2nd choice (because it was closer), and the 1st thing the PMS asked him was why his school wasn't his first choice. Good luck with your visit tomorrow, and with...

Parent with no service background/knowledge needs help with ROTC and service question

Look into the ROTC National Scholarship program for high school students. http://www.goarmy.com/rotc.html This site will explain the benefits, the participating schools, commitments and requirements for gaining the scholarship. I would also suggest that you encourage your DS to consider...

AROTC 3 yr AD getting an extra semester?

My DS is a MS1 and a non-resident student and was upgraded to a 3.5 and contracted last week. The other 2 cadets were in-state residents. I think it all just depends on how much upgrade $'s become available and how they want to spread it out. The school probably could have awarded 2-3 more...

    AROTC application almost complete

Human Nature Indeed Completely agree with regard to human nature. Last year, our DS had Oregon State and Santa Clara as his top 2 schools on his application at the time of conducting his PMS interview. We live closer to Santa Clara, so he decided to conduct his interview with the PMS...

    Last of the Class 2017

Simply incredible. What a journey. After our DS received his QNS, we poured all efforts into plan B (3 year AD at Oregon State). We've met with the cadre in preparation of the Fall term; he's met his new roommate (also a ROTC scholarship kid), and orientation and registration for Fall classes...

    That makes sense. Thanks!

    Qualified, awaiting appointment status

Portals? For those candidates who were QNS, what will happen to their portals? My DS's portal is still accessible. Will Admissions send some kind of communication regarding whether or not the QNS candidate wishes to keep their portal open if wanting to seek another appointment for 2018?

USMA Class of 2017 Acceptance Thread

DS received TWE today (QNS). :frown: His mother and I always knew it would be tough to make it, and he certainly got a lot farther than I thought he would. In fact, being qualified but not selected is very impressive. Nevertheless, it will be hard to get over the feeling that the journey...

    What to do next?

I definitely recommend reaching out to the cadre. My DS received a 3 year AD to Oregon State from the 2nd board. Though we are still waiting on faint hope for West Point, he has embraced his plan B. During last week's spring break, we paid OSU a visit and specifically met with the PMS and ROO...

    Contacting my RC

Maybe not being able to get a hold of him is not such a bad thing. My DS couldn't stand the waiting any longer either and contacted his RC (Far West) yesterday asking if he could shed some light on his status. His RC replied fairly quickly with, "We've made the offers for your...

USMA Class of 2017 Acceptance Thread

Also, the new message indicates downloading the Instructions For Applicants Offered Admissions. Has...

USMA Class of 2017 Acceptance Thread

OK, good feedback (regarding the portal)- thanks. First off, it's exciting to see the delight in those who have received word. I'm sure it must feel like a dream come true. For us Californians, the wait is tough. My DS has already heard directly from a friend he made during SLS of his...
