    Leave After Beast

Not to go off topic here, but regarding football games, do plebes get free time before and/or after the games (if they aren't parading) to visit with family who may be attending the game?

    Envelopes

Regarding letters, the Beast packing list says to bring pens and pencils, a steno pad (with memo pad and spiral notebook issued), and stamps. It doesn't say envelopes however. Will these be given to us or should we bring them? I just don't want to bring any unnecessary weight.

    Inspections

Very informative, thank you. But when I visited back in February, I asked my cadet why his room was so messy (not really messy, but by inspection standards, it was) and he said they were in PMI, so they didn't have to keep it clean for that week… does that make sense?

    Inspections

Here is a seemingly dumb question that should have been asked years ago: how often are room inspections during AY? I know of the terms AMI, PMI, and SAMI, but how frequent are they?

    Marathon Team

That will be the most memorable run… running from our home on the Hudson to the field in which we will battle Navy. I don't know what is better… opposing despicable terrorism acts of the past by representing our U.S. Army in the Boston Marathon, or running the game ball down to Philly to be used...

    Marathon Team

Good news. I hope to compete in my home city's marathon (New York) or America's classic (Boston) within the next few years, and I know cadets have competed in Boston in past years. I have each name sharpied to the bottom of my running shoes.

    Portraits

    Thanks, just wondering.

    Marathon Team

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of what the marathon team is looking for in a cadet-athlete? I am seriously considering joining, but I don't know much about the team itself. Are there tryouts? How often are practices and what do they entail? When is the season? For the record, my...

    Portraits

Random question, but when are our portraits taken during Plebe year? I know I have read it somewhere but I can't recall the answer.

    CBT and Keeping a Journal

I will probably use ballpoint with a waterproof notebook. Thanks.

    CBT and Keeping a Journal

I noticed that Rite in the Rain makes a waterproof notebook/space-type pen combo product specifically for military use, for $34. Would this be worthwhile to purchase, or would a regular pen and pad work well? I just wouldn't want my notes to get soaked and ruined.

    Helicopters during CBT

Maybe if we're lucky, we'll travel by foot.

    Helicopters during CBT

Haha yes, I meant over 100 flights overall, split amongst multiple birds. Nonetheless, that's a lot of flights.

    Helicopters during CBT

Based on the Blackhawk's capacity, wouldn't that be over 100 flights to move approx 1300 new cadets?

    Helicopters during CBT

In the "Information for New Cadets and Parents, Class of 2019" packet, which is found in the portal, it says, "CBT culminates with 'CBT Challenge,' which includes an air movement of the new cadets out to the training area via helicopters." Does anyone know which type of helicopters we will be...

    Advice for Beast

Thank you, Nick K and scoutpilot. I am itching to go with only 15 days remaining until R-Day. My confidence and excitement are boiling over in anticipation for this adventure I've been waiting years to begin, and now only short days remain. Thank you for reminding me that I will mess up many...

    Letters of Recommendation

MOCs vary in what they want, but USMA strictly only wants Math, English, and Physics/Chem teachers; one of each, totaling 3 letters. These are called SOEs (School Official Evaluations).

    Banking

Got my account set up with USAA today. I went on their site again and this time I set up an online account by myself, entering in my status in a commissioning program at USMA, with a commission expected in May 2019 . I then entered my phone number into their help center link, and I received a...

    Serious Help

The process is long and arduous, and I felt down myself many times through it. Only you can know if you can do it; and if you know you can, you will. It's all worth it for that phone call or letter. Good luck.
